I've been to China more than often enough to know I want no part of working there. BUT... as has been said in these pages time and time again, each person must work out what is the best route for you. If that means China then go for it. If that means Atlas then welcome aboard. If that means something entirely different then, as my Navy friends would say, "Fair winds and following seas". Find what you can live with and what gives you the most pleasure along the way then make that your goal.

Since this is a hiring thread, you people applying can see how the life on the line is currently here. If you're junior (anything under 10 years in their eyes), from Polar, or a Captain who questions anything the company or union does, you're an enemy of the old guard doing the mission. They take everything super personal. It's a unique thing at Atlas vs other carriers. I'd say probably 90% of the pilots are united and are ready to get a great new contract but 10% will always be stuck in the past and unwilling to join the group and move forward. Just a buyer beware when applying that you'll see this on the line here. I will now get attacked by one of them for no reason...

I want change, BIG change. I want pit bulls, not Chihuahuas. I have one vote and so do you. We will see what happens.
Why would I want to "alienate" those that have been here a year or so? The bottom half of the seniority list seems to be the predominate ones that actually want/require real change here. Many have been in hardcore battles for years with the remaining "Lorenzo" disciples at prior carriers.
I will tell you what I do not want........ The representation/negotiation that has been going on here for two decades. They chose the arbitrator that heard the final amalgamation, yea, the same guy that gave Alaska management more than they wanted in their concessionary CBA. Nice choice! They also chose "Rick Dubinsky" as the professional negotiator, what a waste of space. A politician, maybe?
I will also tell you "What (who) I am willing to give up?"

here is what i see; i have watched this board for along time. they started this board in 2005 and i watched pprune before that. i have been in this industry 30+ years. and have seen what happens when a whacko gets elected by the membership. the company will hire the cheapest backstreet lawyer they can and everytime there is supposed to be a negotiation, no management will come,,,,only that lawyer. that lawyer will then negotiate uniforms, and parking at your base, for three years, until somone more reasonable gets elected. i have seen it happen before and didn't want to see it here. so i started posting again. i guess that is a crime to you and others.
currently that slate that is being attacked has two whackos one old atlas whacko and a whacko who stated to me, on a flight, that his unwritten agenda was to take us back to alpa. they also have a guy who has a penchant for posting sensitive negotiations on this board. they have one ex-polar ex-steward who did absolutely nothing during his tenure as a steward,,,,except make some movies while on med days. and they have another polar guy who is a great guy and well thought of but who will be going to fedex as soon as they start hiring. this slate claims they have rounded up 400 guys to vote for them....
so yes, i think people should know who they are voting for. and i think it was time for me to start posting again.
