Atlas Air Hiring

so, what about the guys that already have lots of PIC time flying RJs? Would you say the same thing?...likely not the same answer, right?
Big airplane, international, and in the case of the 767 some ETOPS time...that is probably important to a legacy airline.
More importantly, it shows you can make progress, learn a new airplane, new company, new procedures, and move forward with your career...even if it is at Atlas for just a short time.
Based on the attrition we have been seeing, it would stand to reason that time at Atlas is getting guys interviews, and jobs (especially to Delta, American, and UPS lately).

95% of FOs at atlas already have plenty of PIC time, so it's hard to say. Those that don't come here because they weren't going to upgrade at their shrinking regional. No brainer there.
When you interview at a major and they ask about the flying do you think they are more impressed with the guy who flew to San Antonio from DFW 20x in 6 months or the one who has flown to every continent and crossed every ocean in the last 6 months in a million pound plane? Who would they think would get through IOE on one of their non domestic types easier? Seeing HR rules the world now it's probably who had better math grades in middle school or something, so who knows.

Oh, and another brand-new 767 CA just quit.

Just chiming in... If you haven't punched your 1000 hour PIC ticked and are currently getting PIC, I'd punch that ticket just so you can meet the minimums anywhere. That way if you get here and like it then great. If you don't then you have diversified your resume and punched any ticket that companies might look at.
The problem with coming here with zero PIC is that it might lessen your chances of getting out if things go south. We have more "0 PIC" guys than people think here. I was a "0 PIC" guy when I got here and now I'm having to scramble with the military to get that PIC time on my resume. Upgrade times will be at least 5 years here - probably more.

I know for a fact that F/O's at my previous Regional (who have zero PIC time) are going to United, Delta, and American with no issues. You almost just need to meet the minimum flight times, have a 4 year degree, and know someone. That isn't as hard as you might think... I also know several pilots at Atlas with zero PIC in a jet.

I was in an AA 757 jumpseat the other day and the FO came from Atlas to AA just under a year ago. He was a 74 guy at Atlas for 3 years. Didn't ask about his previous experience though. Fairly young, I woud guess mid 30's...

There are guys getting picked up too without a PIC time - also a slap in the face of all those who worked hard and upgraded.
