Just spent 7 days and nights waiting for different airplanes that where AOG. Not sure what's going on ,but we have had a lot of long time mechanics leave for greener pastures. This puts a great deal of pressure on all. Omni is not staffed for the mess this creates. So most crews are left out in the cold with no idea of what's next . Omni has been a lot better in the past with keeping the airplanes in the air ,and in very good condition. I don't think our customers will put up with this for very long. The market for pilots and mechanics has changed,Omni just doesn't know it

B767 life
Can a first officer on the B767 at Omni give me some info on schedules, reserve etc..will I be gone 18 days straight most months? Do you usually go over the 60 hour guarantee? Thanks! Oh and are they even hiring onto 767 now? Im already typed so i figured this might help...

In 15 months I've been held out twice for 18 days. I would say the average is about 12. This is of course dependent on your bidding. The 7/7 schedules seem to get used less. I choose the bids with 18/12 because even though 18 is long (or the possibility of 18), having 12 off in a row feels like a vacation. And some of the bids are 12/12/6 or 11/12/7. There are varying schedules but they all have some combination of 18 on and 12 off.

I would not count on going over your guarantee ever. It is possible but unlikely, unless you offer some of your off days as volunteer days. They would have to actually use you on those off volunteer days though to actually give you a shot at breaking guarantee. You can count on about $2100 per paycheck after training. As far as the 777 is concerned, it's probably more likely you'll get that. But some 767 FO's were awarded 777 CA on the last bid so they will have to replace those people.
