Why would they do this? What about internal upgrades? Can’t imagine they don’t have enough qualified FO’s!?

That’s where you would be wrong.
A lot of military guys without the 121 time and a lot without the total and pic time requirements.

Does Omni have heartburn about rehiring guys that left to go elsewhere? I know that they used to mention that during their interviews.

You mean not their company required mins of 6000TT and 2000TPIC? Or not 121 mins of ATP and 1000 hours 121?

Either

A: 6000tt and 2000 pic

Or

B: 3000tt and 500 in company aircraft and 2 years as operating crew member.

I’ve seen the 2 years waved; must still meet hourly minimums.

Also must have at least 1000 121 SIC.

There’s also more than a few that choose not to upgrade.

I meet the mins but wouldn't dream of attempting an upgrade at the moment. Not only is training no joke, but operating these airplanes to the places we go is really no joke, and at least since I've been on board, we don't fly at the sort of tempo your Kalittas, etc do, so it takes longer to get salty.

Agreed. I was just elaborating on company requirements.

Also a few that have tried previously and failed. Some are waiting for their compulsory wait time to retry, and others just aren’t bothering to try again.
