one of the best kept secrets in 121 IMHO……. With the new CBA’s legacies and even LCC’s are getting we are starting to fall behind though.

I just got added to the pilot pool after a pretty short remote video interview.

This will be my first job after separating from the military.

Being away from home for 17 days at a time sounds a little daunting at the moment for home life.

How big of a bag are Omni dudes packing?

They asked if I wanted 777 or 767. I think I'd go with 777 due to the age of the plane. When is that decided? How are the avionics in the planes?

Being gone 16-17 days was a concern for me initially too as I was accustomed to the standard 4 on 3 off schedule. However now that I do the long trips I prefer it for the long stretches of time off. There's split lines as well so it's not like you have to do the 16-17 on schedule. I have more quality time at home with this job vs standard airline.

I pack in a normal pilot bag. Depending on the season and length of trip laundry is required at the hotel. Not a big deal.

The 777 has glass panels. The 76 still has steam gauges in there. The 76 has better trips typically though too.

I've been gone for a while but when I was there the 767 had much more varied destinations. Also less dead-heading (which some people like). The avionics in the triple will definitely do some stuff the 76 won't, but really a Boeing is a Boeing is a Boeing, mostly.

When I did my sim eval the 777 guy that was in the right seat said pick the 767 if you get the choice. Better trips, more varied destinations

Getting shorter and shorter every day. Someone will have a more precise answer I'm sure. Id guess around 3 years right now?

it was 2 years before Covid. It’s currently last half 2018’s. With no big hiring during Covid it should drop back down soon.

I just started working for OO as an FO and with the current hiring wave in the industry I’m starting to think about what my long range goals are. I live in Colorado Springs, CO and would like to grow roots here so a home based job is more appealing to me. International widebody flying is also on my list of goals so Omni seems like a good destination for me. My question is in the collective opinion will Omni drop the 1000 121 PIC requirement in the near future like the majors are doing? Should I apply anyways once hitting 2000 hours?

Omni just posted an ad on Planejobs that cites 2000 total time, 1000 PIC. There's no mention of 1000 121 PIC.
