And what's your alternative to the Big O?

QUOTE=Hovernut;1470199]Thanks! Just getting antsy with my one year stay in the pool coming up mid-October. I'm in the middle of getting a WIA-funded A320 Type right now; it would be superb timing if I get a call soon after my check ride. I'm not looking forward to the alternative...[/QUOTE]

Hopefully, not another regional! I have friends at various LCCs that operate A320s...hoping to break out of the RJ mold in the resume stack with the Type Rating. As much as I'd like to 'hang out' and wait for that class in Tulsa, my 'clwock is tickin,' as Marisa Tomei said in "My Cousin Vinny." Thankfully, I've had a supportive family and financial resources to weather the Comair shutdown insofar.

I'm really bumming because I was looking forward to the Omni schedule; it works best for my particular extracurricular activities. I looked forward to the varied flying that went with the job, too. I hope the Bolivia contract expands to more hours & more flying becomes available in other parts of the Company's portfolio and leads to recalls and new-hires once again. I thought the new rest rules might cause a bump in recalls, too. I was really hoping the furlough was more of the "Evergreen-type" that lasted only 2-3 months during a momentary down-turn in hours.

I think November will be recall / new hire month as there are 12 remaining furloughs that haven't deferred or found other jobs. The new rules will definitely affect the scope of their operations however, from a planning standpoint November recall probably will give them enough time to train prior to Jan 4. If AA and Delta hire feverishly this year I have a feeling that date might move as there are a lot of young talented FOs with time in type looking for a more condusive schedule (no 90 tdy's).

I understand but Stu and the other guys there will tell you that you will prob never break the 50-60hr mark a month, I never did in all most 3 years, the way you make your cash and get time there is to work days off and they have there favs for sure who give them everyday of the year. I enjoyed my time there and the people who I worked with.

Best thing for your aviation career is to avoid Omni Air...If you do take the job, get out as fast as you can. Omni is not an employee friendly place to work and the union (IBT) is not effective enough to change the environment...Omni is more a flying circus than an airline.

just your opinion - it is just like all the other non-skeds - you know going in what is in store - all in all it has not been a bad place to be - that is my opinion -

Would you feel the same if you were junior manned into a 90-day MAD TDY? I feel sorry for those roped into that... Truly awful.

I remember during negotiations, people saying "But they'll never use it. Vote yes!"

Except for the pay, that is where Omni is different from other non skeds and that is a fact.
