Just a reminder to those seeking Omni - interesting flying, nice airplanes, etc, but plan for 90 day TDY trips. There is no way out of these. As a junior pilot you WILL be assigned a 90 day trip. I used to fly at Omni and just spoke with a coworker who has been there almost 3 years and just avoided a TDY trip by 1 number. Just passing this info along...

Just for the record, the TDY provisions are spelled out in the CBA ratified by the pilots; IOW it is a self-inflicted wound.

Amazing how the CBA was ratified when only one person says he voted in favor and everyone else says they voted no.

Agreed whole-heartedly. I did not vote for that TA. I gave it my best shot to educate those who were unaware of the ramifications (a high percentage unfortunately), but the increased payrates won out over everything. I simply think many of the senior folks had no idea what would happen without solid contractual language. I would be willing to bet the next contract will be very different.

Where are the TDY "bases"?

Do you get significant time off after the 90 days to compensate?

Spain for 90 days?

I guess the EU gun laws are the only thing that would keep me from blowing my head off with a deal like that.

Careful of the 'Bait & Switch' here; Spain for 90 days isn't what it seems. The hotel is at the airport, far from the city, and nothing around it. When you fly your trips, you don't get to leave your stuff in your room (like every other TDY everywhere else); you must pack your things and check out. If your line of time was 70-80 hours, but the customer cancels a flight(s)----you don't get credit for the trip, and your pay goes down to 60 hours like most every other pilot at Omni.

So what happens when your 90-day TDY ends? How long before they can send you out on another one?
