I know it's all he-said-she-said at this point, and DAL is going to hire when DAL is going to hire, but I just figured I'd point it out.

What I find interesting is DAL will have 5,000 mandatory retirements in the next 10 years, and if they continue with their fleet plan (adding mainline airframes while reducing regional airframes to maintain flat system-wide capacity), they will need to hire more pilots than what is required for retirements. So let's say 5,000 (shrinking system-wide capacity / no mainline growth) - 7,000 (conservative system-wide growth / mainline growth) pilots hired in the next 10 years. If DAL started hiring today, they would need to hire 500 - 700 pilots / year. So, I guess even the "bad" news that we would have to wait until the end of 2014 to see mainline DAL hire is also good news...the longer DAL waits to hire, the more pilots they will have to hire each year to meet staffing requirements. New hires will spend less time on reserve / possibly stuck in a base they do not want

Agreed. I'd wait as long as it takes for mass flood gates to open.

FWIW, talked to the DTW chief last week and he said that there wasn't as much attrition as they were expecting...guess there's 2 FO's that are leaving and that's pretty much it. I wouldn't expect any hiring or movement for a while.

The slip instructors are coming back to the line in June. There are no more scheduled classes for either upgrades or new hires.

Not good news, but they are well known for their last minute decision making over there. I imagine when the time comes DAL will tell them give us your 20 next month and CP ops will freak out on how they will staff. DAL was not too thrilled about the 90 day hold last time around so hopefully some heat was applied to the right a$$ to make sure it they don't delay anymore than necessary.

Just looking at how many green slips (critical trips) going out lately and the May memo about having to move up the next AE about 2 months because of lack of bodies to fill the 717 slots on this last one, I would say that hiring is creeping very close....my opinion only ;)

Plane Side pink tags

I'm dead heading on Compass soon. Does the airline do plane side pink service like Pinnacle and Skywest?

Will an international size crew bag fit in the overhead bin of a EMB-175?

Side ways it will as long as it isn't overstuffed.

No roll a boards fit strait in on the EJets, like they do on Boeings and Busses.

Couple questions:

1. Does the company pay for the uniform?
2. What is your cancellation pay?
3. Average time on reserve?
4. How is the training department? What do they expect after your 30 day study period? Number of sims?

Can someone pm me the contract or post it? I tried searching, but could only find the FA.
