Hello All,
Today at the school house our class was issued IPads and no Jepps.. first class to be all iPad.
Also, company will be providing cases, but they are waiting on cases that will work with the mount in the plane. So cases are coming.
Just FYI.. hope that helps the iPad case debate

Last I heard, from the base admin in MSP (who is handling the distribution of the iPads) is that the "case", which is just a zippered sleeve, will be the only bit of protection we will have. The iPads are meant to be used as is in the mounts, because apparently they will not fit with any sort of hard protective case.
Mounts will be in the aircraft. Pretty poor protection of a valuable asset, TBH. But that's why they have us sign a $710 note for it...

Sorry to just jump in on a thread guys. I did a specific search and didn't see the answer I was looking for to this specific question, so I'm asking here.
Looking to apply to Compass and I have an open question to anyone kind enough to give me some direct feedback/insight.
I see Compass has/is going to have an LAX base and I was wondering if it's going to go senior or if, currently, new hires have a chance of getting it out of training. AND---if not right out of the gate, sort of speak, how long before a new hire could hold it?
Reason I ask is simply because I live in Los Angeles and it would be nice to, for once, to fly out of where I live; just trying to avoid the whole commute thing especially all the way cross country.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.

LAX is currently becoming the largest base and all new hires are going there.

Any reason why the AA flights still aren't loaded for Compass yet? Isn't the first plane supposed to come online in March?

Thinking of coming over from another jet regional. Spoke to Compass at a job fair. What's the real upgrade time (assuming I already have 1000 SIC), or time to get off reserve and how many hours a month are you guys flying? Wanted to see what the real story is than what the recruiters had to say.

That being said you will likely become a senior FO quick, especially if you are LAX based. Reserve won't be long at all in LAX but if you are MSP or DTW that is a different story. The future of those bases is uncertain while LAX is most definitely still growing.
As for how many hours we fly, that varies from one guy to the next. Line holders can easily block 80-90 hrs a month if they want. I can't speak for reserves.
If you are coming from another regional at this point, think very hard about it and weigh all the options carefully. A year or 2 ago it was a no brainier for many FOs at stagnant regionals to make the jump. I feel that now its a different story.
