MOAB= ‘Mother of all bids’
Last May Delta posted a huge AE (advance entitlement- Deltaspeak for periodic bids posted where pilots change equipment/bases/upgrade/downgrade). It was unusual in how large it was as well as how long some of the training that resulted from it took to perform. I think some of the training awarded from nearly a year ago is still taking place. Most AE’s occur every couple of months and are much smaller. Big AE’s taking place less frequently are generally not a good deal for the pilots as most training events require a two year seat lock. If the AE timing works out particularly poorly for you your two year seat lock might stretch to 3 years or beyond, and that’s assuming there was space in the category you desired in the first place.

I don't think this is correct. I think the seat lock timer starts at date of the publish of award AE. (apologies already addressed)

I think he means the lock on the old airplane is artificially extended. I was hired under the one year seat lock. I bid off that airplane on the first AE for which I was eligible--the MOAB. just passed my 2-year anniversary and I am still not qualified on the new category. My one year seat lock was effectively turned into two by the one year conversion window in the MOAB.

According to the FB page a guy wrote to a CR manager and asked about narrowbody CA positions. The response was, "We're all set through the summer. Look forward to more in the Fall/Winter."
FWIW.
