Soon-to-be newhire FO here. At my current airline, I bid reserve on purpose to get the schedules I want. I'm hoping for JFK at Delta. If I go for the most junior aircraft (probably lowest paying?), how long would you say it's taking right now to get a couple of weekends off each month?

As for a few weekends off....in November it appears that new hires (mid-Oct 2021) on the 220 got a weekend or two off. And one got two weekends off to include Thanksgiving. That is some excellent initial PBS work complimented by a bit of luck.

Just to clarify, unless you are on the 767-400 or A330 (not available to new hires), Delta technically doesn't have a "JFK base." You will be covering all three NYC airports (LGA, JFK and EWR). The 757 used to do LGA but not sure right now, especially with terminal construction. As for the 220,.320 and 73N, the EWR flying ebbs and flows.

Oops…yes, all bases in NYC. Already used to doing that.
Great to know. Thanks. Signed up for a couple things in March and April that I’m hoping to attend.

If sitting LC reserve in the airport, I’ve heard two separate takes on using the SkyClub or Centurion Lounge. One Captain said it was acceptable to book a non-rev flight, use one of the lounges (assuming you have the credit card to do so) and then cancel the non-rev ticket. Another said Delta considers that stealing and not to do it. Thoughts?

Creating a ghost listing for club access is coloring outside of the lines. The exact scenario you described was previously highlighted in NYC as not acceptable. Your safest approach would be using a Priority Pass lounge, not a Sky Club. While you're at it, you can save on crashpad costs by booking round trip transcons from/to work on flights with open Delta One seats. If you are qualified on an airplane with a crew bunk, you can JS and occupy the bunk during cruise. Stay tuned for more ideas on turning pennies into copper wire.

Using the club after the flight in and before the flight home is fair game.
