UAL guy with a question for y’all. Our “global” fleets have reserve rules that basically allow you to be flown any day of the month except your HDOs (holy days off). You get six of those all in one block. Our other days off we can be “rolled”. So let’s say you have one day of reserve left tomorrow. They could call you and assign you a trip for that day that could be literally any length, and you have to have your days off rolled to the end of that trip. You still have to get the same number of total days off in a month (unless they do it at the end of the month!) and you get no say in what days off you receive, or any extra pay. It’s horrible.

My question is, do you have anything remotely similar? Can your days off be messed with in such a fashion? Thanks in advance.

Hell no. That sounds like hot garbage.

They can move your non-golden days, as we call them, but they are much lower on the coverage ladder. As long as there are reserve pilots who could fly a trip in OT, your off days will not be touched.

Negative. In our equivalent "global" fleets, the only time I've ever been worked into an off day, was when DTW shut down for most of the day due to an ice storm. We have "golden days" that are probably like UAL's holy days, though we can spread them out, but in a ridiculously restrictive way (which should be changed). But in practice, aside from the situation above, I've never been worked into an off day on our WB international fleets. The idea of rolling off days is nuts to me and something I hope you guys get changed.

ME TOO.
Im not even on reserve, it’s just such a joke that our reserve is worse than what I had at regionals.

They roll our WB reserves constantly. I think it’s on purpose to mess with us so we have to use up negotiating capital.

Public Service Announcement -- Scheduling Alert 23-08 just came out. A must read for those on reserve: details required schedule checks, when CS can put a trip on your schedule, and how your "artificial midnight" works. Updated to new contract rules.

Interesting note in the Q/A is that they reference "radio message from ramp to contact scheduling," as a legit form of notification... Pretty sure the union has put out notes that this is specifically note supposed to happen.

per the SRH, it has to be an in-person company contact. Strange

That's the dysfunctional relationship between the association & the company rearing its head again. The company wants there to be a loophole, wherein a "message to call scheduling after block in" is to be interpreted as further expectation to fly, i.e., block in doesn't end the FDP.

Both the company and the association have decried the practice--but, here we are. Personally, I'd find the whole event rather... fatiguing....

I thought so, I'll just assume it's a typo...
