The most likely answer is that the union negotiated 12.G.13 with these restrictions and just forgot to add the language into the PWA. But you know if the shoe were on the other foot, the company would magically “re-interpret” their intent and point to the actual PWA language if it benefited them.
I look at the SRH as one giant MOU. To note, the union and the company jointly author the language of the contract based on the agreements at the table. Everyone talks about the "negotiators notes" as binding in an arbitration. It seems like the SRH is one of those that we actually have access to.

It just me or does seniority and raw group seem to not even matter these days on reserve? Don't mind short call but the amount of times you get it, just becomes blind luck if a trip drops in your window vs other ones.

Yes but, 4-6 hours extra pay every month is nice. Especially when staffing is good and WS pick ups keep you from having to work. SC normally means no long call for 18 hours prior because they put you on rest, unless they forget to notify you of the rest which means SC is useless.

I got the craptastic 2259-0859 short call (SC #5 this month)

Dodged a bullet because there was a senior to me guy who got whacked with a 0500 report because he was RAW group 2 vs 3.

semi related, anyon else think the 2359-0859 SC window is bogus? Id rather do a 2100-0300 or a 0300-1200 one.

Being rested to do either a delayed international 9 hour flight while still being rested to do the 0855 report for MEX (I'm nyc 7ER) is kind of a hard needle to thread.

I don't remember them ever doing the 2359-0859 one before this summer. And I'm basically a reserve 10-11 months out of the year on purpose guy.

I just don’t understand whose idea the midnight to 9am SC was. It benefits nobody. Maybe they want to make sure that the pop up 2am charter repo from EWR to JFK gets staffed?

0400-1200 and 2100-0300 covers all the bases. They have a million dudes sitting SC anyways.

Rumint is that were currently at 30% SC utilization rate, which is double historical norms. They're working to get to a 60% rate, which is about 5 SC/month. Third hand but supposedly from BS (the senior one).

They want to cover the morning reports. They can't assign SC more than 1 day out and 11am is too late to give 18 hours for the 0400 SC. They created the 2359 when the union grieved them violating the call out requirements for SC

2359 is easy SC. Nothing is scheduled to leave until the morning so sleep tight until 5-6am. The one off 02-0400 departure will be a game time self eval.

What has happend to me the last 2 months is that I've burned through all my SC's without being used (earning that nice SCC) thanks to relative seniority but then end up being one of the only ones not on SC and then getting tagged for a crappy trip nobody wants.

There's probably some strategy to tactically YS'ing a more desireable trip or 2 early/mid month to avoid getting crap trips towards the end of the month.

I certainly can't be rested for both. If I plan my rest for a delayed international flight, I won't be rested for an early morning flight. That's an easy fatigue call for me.
