I'd be in the vicinity at 1400 but I probably wouldn't be able to report for another 2ish hours. Maple trees don't tap themselves and the sap is sticky so I'll have to hike out, take a shower, and change before I drive to work. Just say'n.
Oh, and I'd ask for short term parking authorization.

Because when the trip coverage report was run, you were showing as a SC pilot, not a LC pilot. You ended up with the rotation on the SC step of coverage since apparently there were no LC pilots legal for the assignment. This actually works to our favor since while you are not getting the 1:00 SCC pay for being unused, you are still completing 1 of your max SC obligations to the company for the bid period (normally 6 is max, but can be reduced due to days of unavailability like vacation, training, etc).
can they tell when you have checked your schedule via MiCrew? … asking for a friend

They have to follow the "reserve ladder" priority. Yes, they can see your logins but it doesn't matter because you are only contactable when you are contactable. This is why I use the first 2 hour SC provision every SC.

Without looking at your schedule, my guess is that you have a day 1 LC assignment, not a 30 minute SC report and you won't get SC credit.

They can't (shouldn't) contact you on an off day. Assuming you start long call at 0000 you become contactable and could be given a trip that reports as soon as 1000 on your first LC day IF it was placed by noon the day prior.

I live close enough that I can finish my workout, (they invariably call with 5 minutes to go on the Peloton) shower, and get to EWR in normal traffic in under 2 hours. If they call during rush hour/bad weather/special event for JFK or LGA, I get there when I safely can, but I don't just sprint out the door either.

That’s not legal past 1200 going into your first LC day. Assuming the next-day SC was assigned right before noon, then once noon hits that assignment is locked in. A rotation reporting before 1800 would have to be given as a SC assignment. With any SC or rotation report on your first day before 1800 you aren’t really even contactable. Unless you acknowledged the assignment in advance then at midnight your rest is considered momentarily broken but you go right back into pre-report rest of up to 18 hours.

I have never gotten a call for any rotation or SC assignment that reports before 1800 on my first day of LC, and I almost never pre-acknowledge such assignments. My bigger point was that he was a SC pilot on the trip coverage, thus the rotation was given as a SC assignment and he will get SC count credit for sitting the SC (not the 1:00 SCC).
