That doesn't change CS behavior unless everyone does it. We have way too many heros who are collecting bullet points for their Delta Air Medal. "Pilot A single handedly saved the entire operation from melting down by getting an on time departure 55 minutes into their SC window. The downstream impact from these efforts kept the subsequent five flights operating on time providing 843 passengers on time arrivals. The efforts of Pilot A reflect great credit on themself, the ATL 320 category and Delta Air Lines"

Accepting assignments inside of 2 hours, even if you take 2 hours to report shifts the workload onto locals who don't take advantage of the NC provision.

That was actually pilot B. I was pilot A and playing sudoku on the seat back screen because I was NC. Or maybe it was pilot C because B was squatting porcelain across the hall from the gate while NC. Or maybe D because the C was putting the boat back on the trailer while NC.

My reason for noIt doing NC as a local is twofold.

One, there are times here when even if I check my schedule at exactly SC start time EWR might be dicey and JFK isnt gonna happen by SC+2

Two. I might forget to check and then they are expecting me to be immediately vs promptly at SC+2

This morning. 0530-1130 SC

I'd have to set alarm to get up at 0529 to login and check schedule or haul butt if there was a 0730 report. Which is dicey for LGA, ain't happening for JFK (I live in NJ, use EWR as my "anchor")

Or not use NC. Phone might ring at 0530. Might not. If it rings at 0530 for a sooner than say 0830 JFK, Ill get there when I safely can. If they call for a 0600 report, not happening. I'll be on the road in 15 minutes. Your guess is as good as mine.

I woke up at 0730 with a yellow lab puppy dropping a tennis ball on my face. Much preferable to 0530 alarm to check schedule.

Check before SC starts with the necessary buffer. There is no requirement to wait til SC starts. You still receive benefit from 18 hours til your pre SC contact status.

set an alarm?

You found the exception. This is a good argument for not exercising the NC provision.

I know the drill. My chocolate lab gave my throwing arm a workout this AM before going for a walk.

A much easier way to get out of their BS games and not deal with fighting them about the contract is to just use your sick time. Less stress too

What does the hive mind think about individuals who are WS'ing rotations with <18 hrs to report and insufficient SC coverage?

Out of principle I won’t, but other people are effed being junior and can’t get anything good, so they just take the good stuff from the senior people because it’s the best they can do. People don’t value their time
