It seems like in most cases scheduling will manually cover trips as quickly as they can before they run through a PCS cycle. How can you WS a trip with an immediate report?

By submitting a white slip for the rotation, or a blanket white slip, prior to the time at which the scheduler pulls a trip coverage report. No PCS run is necessary for a WS to be awarded.

I always have a blanket WS in for trips that meet my desires. WS are higher on the list than reserves, yellow and green, so a WS will will always be called first. Besides past the 0700 pcs 2 days out, a WS won't be processed on a PCS (though a Swap will until the day prior), so it wouldn't matter if it hit a pcs or not. Trips inside of two days, up to immediate, will be labeled with just a W.

For anyone new or uninitiated, this cannot be overemphasized. GS are always a proffer, so you can have 1 slip in for the whole month that will catch every opportunity in the net. But for a WS to remain a proffer (can turn it down), you have to have a separate slip in for a 1-day, than a 2-day, than a 3-day, then a... And you have to change your slips every day (to roll to the next day) if you want to be open to the proffer trips via ARCOS. If you are new and don't understand any of that, ask someone to help explain it. Otherwise, if you put in just a blanket WS covering the whole month, you are going to get slammed with at least one, if not several trips you don't want, and can't turn down. Don't learn that lesson the hard way...

Out of principle I won’t, but other people are effed being junior and can’t get anything good, so they just take the good stuff from the senior people because it’s the best they can do. People don’t value their time
It’s that pilots right within the contract, who are you to question motives? And why do you say they don’t value their time? Because they picked up a Europe instead of waiting on a domestic?

I'm not seeing your point. Are you advocating for willfully worsening one person's schedule just so someone else gets a green slip? Good luck with that. My monthly credit varies a lot depending on juggling other life responsibilities. Yeah.. don't care if that bothers you.

not gonna work my off days for straight time or pick up on reserve and work for free if I don’t have to. If that floats your boat, knock yourself out

I didn’t say it was me, but I don’t understand the hate. Per your example, YS a Europe <18 hours. But what was in the pot for the next day? 4 day domestics? Uncommutable trips? Or maybe they just like going to Europe for 24 hours? To each their own, just because they don’t do what you would does not mean they are wrong.
