Please sanity check me: Having a YS in for SC doesn't change any of the notification requirements, right? SC today, got a CNO call for it yesterday, but I was flying a trip as a lineholder so I don't think that counts, they had to call me today for it to be legal right? No I didn't acknowledge notification.

CNO only counts for notification of conversion of a LC Pilot to SC. (It is the only thing for which CNO is official/valid.)

*edited to correct. I suck.

But if he’s a regular line holder on a fly-day, he’s not

1) subject to the carve out provisions S2a5 or S2c3 (though the straight YS could net you a before 1800 SC start)

2) contactable as a reserve pilot

I believe they would HAVE to CNO starting at midnight. Anything prior to that shouldn’t be a valid notification.

Only when in a contactable status.

Answered on the FB Scheduling page, it’s illegal. Being a REG with a trip, not on a day off and thus non-contactable. CNO not legal in this case. No schedule check required either

Edit...others appear to have answered while I was typing.

I'll let someone who or more knowledable answer for sure. My question is what was your angle with having a YS in for a SC? Given that yesterday was a reg day and NOT a no-fly day, you'd have almost all but guaranteed today as a day off.

It's been a bit since I've bid reserve, but isn't that for LC pilots? He wasn't a long call pilot yesterday. Furthermore, since he was a REG and flying, yesterday was NOT a no-fly day, I think they earliest they could use him is 1800 and only if they call at 0001 this morning.

Blanket YS for late afternoon SC. Figured I might get a quick two day trip on SC that would get me holiday pay (which it turns out is what I'd be doing if I weren't holding them to the contract for legal notification), and if not then they couldn't assign me anything the next morning. I really dislike early morning reports and go out of my way to avoid them.

Does anybody actually have a reference that says human beings must be used except for notification to conversion to SC? I cannot find anything explicit in the PWA that distinguishes between people and robots.
