I guess for reserves, if you commute, you get positive space DDH both ways plus hotel/per diem while knocking out at least one of your SC periods for the month. Looks like right now they’re building all 4 day NB standby rotations so you’re knocking out 4 days of LC for at most 2 days of actually flying.

Tennis, you can probably clear up my misunderstanding... PWA 23.AA 4.b. states reserve pilots will be awarded pay and credit under 12L, which led me to believe a reserve pilot would receive 21 hours of pay+credit (on top of reserve guarantee) for a 4 day standby rotation.

They can assign you flying that turns that lest day DH in to a working leg back to "base," and can then reroute you off of it in to an additional duty period beyond the original day. Turning your "at most 2 days of actually flying" in to 4. No promises on the back side like the front side deviation. Scheduling Alert 23-18.

Then you’d rack up a bunch of reroute pay. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but for a reserve commuter it might be a better roll of the dice than getting hit with a standard in-base rotation assignment.

pay and credit = towards RES guarantee

pay, no credit = on top of RES guarantee.

Those don't count towards your max short call number

The PWA states that you must be "immediately available" for the short call periods. Does that preclude you from sitting in your hotel on Virginia Avenue?

I’d be careful. If it’s as bad as previous snow/ice storms, you might not be able to get from VA Ave to the terminal.

So here’s my question. Company puts me in a hotel on VA Ave for short call- gets icy and I can’t get a hotel shuttle to airport and uber is a mess. What now? If i was home I have my car and it’s my responsibility, but out of base it’s at the whim of others.

So the company is expecting you to check out of the hotel and sit in the airport for each short call period?
