My captain said the same thing you did -- that I should have actually been given a full PB on Thursday, a full PB on Friday, and then a PR on Saturday. I am trying to find a reference for that before I call CS. Many thanks!
Thu should be PB (but, interrupted by the GS)

Fri should be PB

Sat will depend on what time you released from the GS—either nothing at at all for a release at or before 1500 base time, or a PR for any release after that time (ie, +9 hours)

Reference is §23.S.11. The key is that the X-days (not differentiated as “PB” in the contract) *begin* at release +9, and apply at the rate of 24 hours for each day *interupted*.

Just to be clear, I picked up an additional 1-day GS on the Tuesday preceding my Thursday PR. Then Thursday was converted to a PB, with a PR on Friday (today) til 2030L.

I called and asked CS to review this, and they stated that since I blocked in on Tuesday’s GS before 1430L (which is true), the application of PB days was correct. But had I blocked in at or after 1430L on Tuesday, I would have had Thursday converted to PB, a PB on Friday, and an additional PR into Saturday. Does that sound right?

Yes, that is correct. Just take block-in + 9.5 hours or release + 9 and if it still in the same day, then it's a PR. If that time is in the next day, then you'd get a PB and PR to that time. If you're looking to roll thunder, you really want to mind the PR.

Definitely. I am fortunate to be rolling thunder this month, with the exception of one reserve day tomorrow (unless they call me for something today)!

This is how it SUPPOSED to work, but I've been assigned SC multiple times two days out. Others as well.

I believe from what I've been hearing/reading this is a point of disagreement between company and DALPA.

Even after the 1 March process change?

Not me. Didn't have reserve in March or April. Not sure timing of others' complaints.

I would guess that those complaints are obsolete. Since the 1 March “bid for SC” provision implemented, all my SC’s have come around 1100 the day prior per the new PWA procedure. Would be interested to hear of any ‘violations’ of that.

Wait, that’s got to be fake news. 2 day out coverage and SLV killed PB days and reserve GS! /s/

I know you’re being sarcastic, but that is a real issue that is important to many of your peers. Objectively SS and 2 day coverage will reduce reserve GS and therefore PB days if all else is equal. However, there are so many variables that’s it’s almost impossible to do an accurate comparison.

Whether they reduce them by an unnoticeable, insignificant amount or by a lot is up for debate and to be honest won’t be known for a while as SS are so new and the company is still testing the waters a bit to see what works best for them.

We are also protected by the 48 hour soak time which ensures there will still be a significant amount of reserve GS going out. That’s a protection that I hope a future MEC never messes with or gives away in negotiations. Ever.
