I’m not doubting you, but any reference for this?

Just my personal experience bidding SC and conversations with scheduling. The SC automation as currently running does not properly honor seniority or YS if needed preferences.

I concur with this. What I posted is based on what I have experienced actually happening.

This is absolutely how it is supposed to work. However, how CS actually does things is always another question.

I have had a CSer tell me they do not have to honor “if needed” slips. Which is 100% false. The SRH is crystal clear.

This is speculation on my part but I thought the reason for everyone getting SC was because they were unable to do "if needed" correctly, so they put everyone on SC to show a need. It happened about the time people were starting to call about thier bid assignments. I called 3 days in a row to question my "need" and that was what I was told.

It's the subject of a current MEC grievance.

What benefit (if any) is there for bidding short calls published in the bid package?

no one knows. Zero news from DALPA. They pulled a similar stunt with the PVPP vacation days last year.

But are they set in stone? Or are they like any other reserve trip/SC/YS that can be removed and replaced at will during trip coverage?

Does an award of an 1800 SC with 3 days of availability on the first day of a stretch of LC days prevent them from assigning you a 10AM report trip on that same day during trip coverage, because LC doesn't exist on that first day?

If SC is awarded on the first RSV day of a stretch of any length, does that negate the 10-18 hour cutout for next-day/second-day assignments?

If you have a 5-day stretch of reserve, and a 3-day availability awarded SC on the 3rd day of that stretch (i.e. LC/LC/SC/LC/LC), does that prevent them from assigning you a 5-day trip at the beginning of the stretch?

So many questions...
