I’ve commuted in and out of uniform. 100% hands down out of uniform is much more relaxing. Only down side is the FAs don’t offer me a tiny bottle of water when I get on the plane.
Why is it so hard to believe that someone might genuinely prefer to commute in uniform? Between KCM, how crew/gate agent treat you and not having to go through the hassle of taking it off/putting it back on I've opted to travel in uniform many times.

I've yet to travel in DL uniform so it's puzzling to see why this is controversial. At my previous Airline people would do both and nobody cared.

Because of past history. Mid rotation DH is the only time I’ll be in the back of a plane in uniform. I guess my luggage also doesn’t scream “look at me! I’m a pilot!” I’m more of the leave me alone when in the airport. Again, outside of the waters not offered I’ve had no issues. KCM isn’t an issue. Random in or out of uniform is no different for me. I don’t carry anything different as a crew member. Never speak to gate agents, just pull up my boarding pass on my phone, board in my appropriate zone and go on my way. What I have had while in uniform is constant hey, can you tell me where the baggage claim is? Can you help me find my gate? How fast does this thing go? Blah blah blah. I love all that but not when commuting. And mostly when I’m at my kids school for career day. To each their own but I still call BS on trips reasons based on post history.

LOL. And now with a forth stripe? I've been a Captain for years at Delta. You commute out of uniform because it's more relaxing. I commute in uniform because it makes everything easier for me. Do you. What I'm perplexed about is people commuting out of uniform so they can act differently or it provides "protection" as if they can't control themselves.

From what actions of others are you protecting yourself?

Nobody said anything of the sort, and you know it.

Every person who sees this and then down the road sees them as their Capt (whether it be FO, FA, or passenger) questioning his judgement and decision making. That makes for a terrible situation.
