Global Scope AIP reached

Everyone take a chill pill.
I am astounded that so many are quick to praise or fold arms and “vote no”.
Out of “yes”, “no”, and “unknown”, the default mindset should be “unknown” right now. I’m glad the MEC and management shared an update. That’s great. But until we get some language and explanation to read, learn how to wait and reserve judgement.
All along they said the global scope would be done outside of the rest of the contract and go to Memrat, BECAUSE it’s that significant.

I agree with what you’re saying. I’m unknown, but all this news tells me is that this better be a damn good deal for me to vote yes outside of section 6. If it’s just OK or a kinda good deal, then I say roll it into the whole shebang.
As an aside, since when did “AIPs” become so significant? I remember thinking that TAs were the things worth talking about. An AIP is worth about as much as an Elon Musk tweet at 2am.

Scope is the most important section of the Delta PWA. It's directly related to Delta pilot jobs. Negotiating gains to Scope outside of section 6 is completely warranted and perhaps preferred. LCA/SLI pay bumps only affect a few pilots and benefits the company's staffing issues. Absolutely not necessary or desired to negotiate that outside Section 6

I think you guys should probably get used to the idea of negotiating outside of section 6. When you get leverage use it to fix little using and keep raising the qol bar. LOA passages are easier to sell to board members too who see all the little QOL stuff as small costs (even ones that arent) and you boil the frog slowly from room temp rather than trying to spend 2-3 years doing a smash and grab theyll fight you on every inch.

Let's suppose that Asia comes roaring back but South America is in the toilet. With this, and clearly I've not seen specific language, the company could easily show that overall JV flying is down and thus would not need to add jobs all while Korean is growing like crazy. Unless there are specific theater protections, this shouldn't pass. We have a tendency to overlook things and then wring our hands when it bites us later. I'm hopeful, but without specific language that protects us in all theaters so they can't just move chess pieces around to keep our flying low, it's a hard no.
