Delta Pilot Intimidation

While the management stooges who cooked up this letter are far too stupid and short-sighted to strategically bait us into a coordinated and illegal job action, they will be happy to exploit it if we do.

In general, I did fairly normal living life things the day before that wore me out. I went to bed at a normal time for a mid morning report. Didn’t sleep well at all so I called out fatigued. Company blamed fatigue on “personal” issues and excluded it. If I had just omitted all the details about the day prior and just said I got crap sleep I wouldn’t have lost any pay. It’s not like I had a 0600 report and stayed up until 0300 playing Fortnite or anything. That I could see being excluded for being a poor personal choice that directly led to fatigue. But I had a reasonable expectation of a normal night’s sleep that didn’t end up happening so I feel that the decision is in error. Unfortunately I don’t have any good path to resolving things in my favor when the union FRB agrees with the company.

Fun fact: the “report post to moderator” function doesn’t work on my browser.
I just discovered this today.
In lieu of that, there is this giant notice on the top of the page that deliberately prohibits this sort of post.
Difficult to believe an actual pilot would post this.

Basically everyone defers to the FRB, and if they say it’s unpaid then there’s not much of an avenue left to fight. As was said being completely excluded from the program is different than being non-operationally caused (which would pay out of the sick bank). An excluded report is then referred to the CPO and is treated as a PD.

can you provide any more context on this from your experience?
Pre covid it used to be like 96% paid by the company, 3% sick time, and 1% unpaid..
post covid, there is no third option anymore due to one of our MOU/LOAs of that era.. 20-04 maybe?
it’s either paid by the company OR your own sick bank.. depending on the circumstances that induced the fatigue call
generally, anything operational is covered by the company, anything self-induced is your sick bank (with no accounting towards look-back)

There is no more PD associated with Fatigue.
