There are many exemptions in both directions

True, but the starting point is still 12 hours block to block, not 12 release to report.

12 hours release to report as the default seems reasonable to me. Or carve out a mid option where there are still food options around , but does not have to be downtown.

I think 15 is too long for an airport hotel, but that’s just my opinion.

I never understood why the PWA muddies the waters with block in to block out for "Break in duty."

Duty off to duty on = "Rest."

my bad, I guess I’m used to all the odd ball exceptions where I see sub 12 hour rest resulting in a hotel by the airport, bna etc.

it would be nice to have a large survey on all things hotels and layovers. I’ve emailed the hotel committee a few times to see if we could have a massive survey, and also put it down in my contract survey. 14 hours, somewhere in there, let’s figure out a new number. Of course there will be the deviations for exceptions. But I think the bigger thing we have to look at is what is downtown? I would love to see more like Bellevue, Scottsdale, Annapolis, etc. Our once great cities aren’t what they used to be. Let’s find quite a few more nice suburban areas to use for long layovers.

Yeah.. whatever we settle on it's not going to please EVERYONE. Personally I'd rather be downtown in Seattle than in Bellevue. Love the long NYC also. Hate the long ATL and LAX. Should be in Redondo or even Long Beach. But I'm more concerned about the length. I think driving all the way to a "long" layover only to sleep for 8 hours, get up and get back in a skyhop for a 30-45 minute ride is pointless.
