Worst case we go to mediation and have a vote open at the same time. Some guy in the back of the lounge said we should vote it in, take the money and then vote for representation in time for the openers in early 2015 as it would take two years to sort that battle out assuming the same timeline as IFS. The Pit and The Pendulum...
The issues guys are bringing up are glaring and significant but easily fixable. |

That is very high up there on my list of positives for this thing.
Now if we could just send this thing back through the grinder and shore up some stuff, I'd be very happy to pass it and get on with life. |

100% agreed. I've searched and searched and tried to bring myself to where I could be happy with a yes vote, but there are too many loopholes and things left to be desired.
I'd be all for pulling the thing back, taking a little while longer and getting it right. The company wants to make some moves, and I would like them to be wildly successful. Getting this right the first time out of the gate will make a world of difference for the company's future (and in turn, our careers). |

The funny thing about all of this is that we are shooting holes in this contract trying to find a way around provisions that management might exploit, yet we all believe managment when they tell us, Wall Street, the other 70,000 employees and the other airlines who will "match" our pay that this is "cost neutral." On one hand we don't believe managements plan, which I say is clearly defined because they want to take lift from DCI and move it to DL vis a vis 717 (fact) and then we believe a stupid press release meant to tell the rampers not to expect anything more than they are already getting. ***? Ford & Harrison et al has us chasing our tails.
Do you know if we had to pay through a bargaining credit or work rule concessions for the early out? Did they mention that in the slc crew room? |

I dunno? Looking at the positives and negatives in this deal really has me wonder about real day one valuation increases.

The early out should have been offered with all other employee groups right before the last MD bid... I'm sure there are more than a few pilots commuting or on a smaller jet because of not offering the plan to all employees. Cheers George |

You reminded me. Did anyone find the commuting policy in the TA? Is it now contractual?

I must have missed the early out part. I've met plenty of FO's that said they want old guys bought out though. Too many if you ask me.

The psychology is unmistakable. This could be DALPA's finest hour. Swallowing some pride, taking heed, going back in and doing some badly needed cleanup and addressing the issues. It could be a home run. DPA would evaporate overnight, and all Delta pilots would be unified. Instead, this will be most likely left to fester. God Forbid that this thing passes, and you will have a large segement of your pilot group eternally ****ed, and the DPA grows stronger, ensuring our pilot group will NOT be unified for the next storm.
