HAL, well, give or take some of their guys will win very big and that's just the way it is when we've determined relative seniority is the way.

At 500+ pilots, a merger with HA would be a little bump in the road, relative to 12,000 DAL pilots, whatever the scenario.

That would be one way to address it. Also the top DL pilots (equivalent 74/777 positions) should be placed above the top HI pilot. Once those two things are done, we can move to fairly and realistically address the middle. Some will mirror the results of "relative" or close to it, but I would expect a complete approach to it rather than some abstract template. If we can't agree to what's fair and equitable, we take it to arbitration, fight like pitbulls for our pilots and accept the outcome, as should they.

That sounds about right. What we all need to realize is that every merger represents a separate, unique, standalone set of circumstances. An SLI method that might make good sense for one merger/buyout might make zero sense for the next.

That is why I think what we did with the DAL/NWA SLI was the best--or least bad--approach: try to negotiate an SLI (which we know will never happen) and then go to arbitration, select a 3-person panel so as to avoid any one individual's possible quirks, and have a well-prepared merger committee make their best possible presentations.

You mean the 88's ruddder remaining effective? sure. It was designed that way to make up for the fact the ailerons are not effective in the flare.

And then they stay there taunting you by saying "this was our position when we quit working."

So, I haven't been on in a few days, but it seems like merger mania has broken out. When did they announce the merger with Hawaiian?...this is cool and all, but I can't find news about it anywhere.

Are you surprised?

It was just an observation, so untwist your panties. 500 pilots melted into 12,000 isn't gonna make that much difference to anybody except them.

Not towards the bottom of the list, and not today. As the pilot group ages and seniority progress, not so much. There are a lot less WB A seats than FO seats.

Duh... That's because we operate a fair number of flights with 3 pilots. What's your point?

I've had enough merger talk. Here is the green bay weather brought to you by the "replacement" weather guy.
