When I first got on the 777, 6 years ago, it flew Rome, Paris and London out of ATL...of course all I could hold was Bombay...but still...we used to fly the 777 to Europe's big 3.

Now we fly one flight a day to most Europe spots; A330, 764, or an ER, and code share to other airlines 777's to those destinations.

Are you comparing the winter schedule to the good old days? We used to give all of our profits back over the winter. If you look at the summer months, we're doing CDG 2X a day from ATL, on either an A330 or a 767-400 and an ER, and London 3X per day right now on a 767-400 from ATL. Today we pare capacity to meet demand over the winter, and are now making money again.

You heard about the radio call one of our guys heard, taxiing out of LGW, after going through the security line just in front of a VA crew?

On ground control, as they were both taxiing out, the VA pilot said, "Delta, do you always take your Mum with you, everywhere you fly?"

Classic!

I agree about Heathrow. Competing there is critical.

I sure hope you are right about the rest but we've been pulling down capacity lately, not growing.

The corporation may be making big moves but "Delta" flying is slowly going away.

All we can do as pilots is put the heat on our union to make sure we negotiate protections for us in light of this agreement.

Earlier you said the only thing we ever flew to CDG prior to the merger was an ER.

I was just correcting that.

Holy Cow!!! My picture of a fully clothed woman blowing a bubble just got pulled!!!!! REALLY???? It was a bubble people!!! Someone just happened to capture the picture at the right time. For that brief second when the shutter blinked the bubble may have resembled the male anatomy. BUT IT WAS STILL A BUBBLE!!!!

Just for that I'm gonna post a picture of a cat with a pancake on her head. This is my wife's cat. She thought I was nuts when I put the pancake on her head and took the picture. For those based in Seattle, that is the best pancake mix ever, Snoqualmie Falls Pancake Mix. Yummy!

We were talking about JFK-CDG. Did we ever fly the MD-11 or 777 on that route...I don't know.

You are having these problems on ICS, or Jelly Bean?

So far, I'm digging me some Jelly Beans. Even rooted my tablets to enjoy the JB goodness.

(Trying to distract myself from posting about Virgin until after the news conferences ... and ALPA's statement(s) .... )

... and now I know why my two year old runs from me.

Smart phone wars ...

I just ditched Verizon's Thunderbolt (VZW's first 4G Android phone) for an iPhone5. All I can say is wow, the iPhone is a piece of crap. I can write a book about all the things I hate about it. Sure, my Android had some issues. But overall, the Android system is vastly superior in so many ways. The iPhone iOS is really bad and boring. The lack of Google's mapping software (Google Maps, Local, Street View) is the iPhone5's downfall.

The reason why I voiced my opinion is what Johnso mentioned. I have found that when trying to place the cursor mid sentence or in the middle of a word, it is almost damn near impossible on my iPhone. I have to tap or press over and over and over before it selects. It is very frustrating. I have the same results on a friend's iPhone. It could be my fingers haha.

The only thing I like about the iPhone are some of the functions that Siri makes easy (say "directions to Orlando" and boom there they are). However, that Apple Maps is the biggest fail ever in smartphone apps.

If the Samsung GIII goes Global Ready on Verizon, or if the new HTC Droid DNA gets a bigger battery, I will pay the extra money to switch. I believe the only reason why the iPhone is relevant today is because of the cult following that Apple has and that love affair is slowing growing cold. Apple needs a major overhaul to their iPhone which was once game changing but IMO is below average.

To that the reply should have been:
"No....mum is hot....that was grandmum! And yes she goes everywhere we do! :p;):D

If Delta enters into a joint venture with Virgin Atlantic, it must meet the requirements and restrictions of Section 1.E.* (Permitted Arrangements with Foreign Air Carriers).* We encourage you to review this section of the contract, but some highlights include:

•******************* 1 E.8. In the event the Company or a Company affiliate enters into or maintains a profit/loss sharing agreement with a foreign air carrier, Company flying between the United States and the home country of such foreign air carrier . . . [will] be no less than the Company’s scheduled block hours between the United States and any such country in the same three months of the twelve-month period prior to the month in which such agreement first became effective.

•******************* 1 E.9. Before any such amended or new profit/loss sharing agreement is finalized, the parties will meet for the purposes of negotiating terms applicable to such amended or new profit/loss sharing agreement.

Many markets that we never served either. So what if AF flies an A380 to JFK. I'm wide awake, but there's no need to make things up to get a point across.

I'm not the least bit concerned about the Virgin JV. This is going to bring in huge traffic from the far and away number one European market. Until today, we've been shut almost completely out of that market. AA/BA just got some serious competition, and UAL is basically hosed at EWR. I would expect to see additional destinations to LHR added with DL metal in the near future if the past is any indication. I don't think we're ordering wide body aircraft because we have a huge fleet of paid for wide bodies that have just been refurbished.

Big Picture, from another thread,

"My biggest concern isn't the U.S. to LHR flying, it's what happens to Africa, Asia, and Caribbean flying. We could fly virtually all of our European/Carribean customers on Virgin through LHR and we could see alot of our Asia/Africa customers on Virgin flights also. That's where we lose while we focus on just the LHR to U.S. flights."
