Just got an e-mail from DALPA.
We have apparently agreed to waive our scope clause. Again. But the title of the e-mail is "Scope Improvement Opportunity". Priceless. |

"The company failed to keep to the contractual amount of NRT flying, so we let them count HND as well so they would be back in compliance without actually changing any of their plan." .... improvement, how? That is some serious spin! |

I just read that.
"The company failed to keep to the contractual amount of NRT flying, so we let them count HND as well." .... improvement, how? I wish my union would quit trying to baffle me with bull$hit. Management violated the scope clause and once again we decided to allow it. Just frikkin' say it. |

In 2008, if you were going to the ER, you did the full domestic 767 course, and then there were 2 (or 3?) oceanic sims tacked on after your 767 LOE.
After that, you did a full 767 domestic OE followed by TOE. |

There is a DC9 line on the US/Canada map in Chapter 8 of the airway manual. I always wondered what that was for (NewK?). Even still, the DC9 with its turbojets and the 717 with its turbo fans probably do not share the same driftdown parameters.
I have taken the mighty DC-9 to Canada and the Western U.S. * All the way to Winnipeg from MSP. * To MZJ for its final flight. Neither were over the "real mountains." (We went way south before heading west to MZJ.) When I first checked out on the DC-9 in 2001 we did have to learn driftdown stuff, but I don't think I ever put it into practice being based in DTW. |

I'm guessing there was some uproar over the very junior 744 SLIs that triggered that?

On Airliners.net a new thread talks about the LAX T4/T5 tunnel reopenning soon.
Would it not be ironic if we helped AS move to the south side and they end up connecting most of their PAXs to AA, while using / blocking our gates. The tunnel was closed after 911, but has not reopened (rumored) because of some DL/AA rift. But now with their new pilot contract, it could be that AS will be flying more of AA's domestic schedule. |
