I'm seeing a lot of new life in NYC. Somewhat refreshing. :D

I was on the employee bus recently and this gaggle of older FAs were whining up a storm about 08-2013 FAs- with particular attention to the younger girls.

I should have reminded them that jealousy is a very stinky cologne.

Where's LNL... that'll really get up her craw!

They don't feel comfortable seeing their granddaughters get hired. They know how pilots are like, thats why. :D

When are you moving to ATL, buzz? ;) Wait.. I'm in ATL, and you're senior to me... how about DTW! They have nice summers in MSP, dontchaknow?

I did my 5 year penance. Even lived in PTC and flew the 88. Tough sale for my California girl. Even though my parents, sister and DAL CA brother in law live there, can't see it unless CA continues to commit slow suicide. We'll see. My seniority on the 73 wouldn't improve at all. Plus, I like the LAX flying club.

Granddaughters? Heck. I think it's more like great granddaughters. :D

Check......I love ya dearly man but you're not seeing the forest for the trees:p

One of the reasons I miss narrowbody flying is you have a combination of long and short trips that allow you to "fill up" to the max side of the LCW. I always flew to the low side cuz I'm lazy but thats another discussion.

So, in your example above, I'd be able to fly one less rotation to fill up . That rotation goes into open time needing another pilot, not a fewer pilot:D

I'll buy ya a beer and draw it out on a napkin..........honest, this is a good thing (says the guy who's used it)

Ferd

Ok. I cry uncle.
I will defer to the guys who have experience with the thing I guess.

My gut is still telling me that breaking up vacations into individual days to more easily fit them around trips is only going to make us more "efficient" and require less pilots but I will wait and see the results.

I flew in LGA on this last trip. There is no doubt that these new FAs are 40+ years younger than some of the Delta Princesses (as they call themselves). So yes it's fair to say the new ones are old enough to be their grandchildren.

Which to be honest I feel like most of the time the FAs on the NBs at Delta are very attractive 40 year olds. You guys hired 20 years ago must have had fun. ;) If I was single and had been hired 20 years ago I'd had fun too... although I doubt you're allowed to hire blind flight attendants :D so probably not that much fun. But it's just when I get on the bus in the middle of the afternoon do I find the 65+ crowd and it is stunning.

No matter what, it's nice to have the energy of new people.

It's ludicrous for the company to think we're going to put our tickets on the line doing raw-data hand flying after years of beating us senseless for doing so.

It's funny to watch some guys do anything and everything the company asks. I saw something emphasizing more hand flying a few months ago. What do I see from the next LCA I fly with? Hand flying more than any guy in an 88, ever. Yeah, that makes everything go oh so much more smoothly on approach 20+ miles out from ATL. Save fuel? Same guy, holding off flaps 28 until the very last legal point. This guy didn't trust me to shut down the remaining engine as we came to a stop at the gate--every flight he had his hand on the fuel lever to shut it down in case I took an extra .5 seconds to get to it. If the company said it helps to make the people in the back to feel more welcome if you do your pre-push PA from the aft lav of the 88 with the FA's handset there are those who wouldn't question a thing, and just execute.

Yeah what is up with hold off on landing flaps to 1,100' on the RA to "save fuel"? We bought an oil refinery, you can put them down at 1,800' if you like.
