My humble opinion: If it's block in + 30, you're legal per the FARs as block in is at 1329. 117 does not add the 30 minutes our PWA does. Now if you block in is at 1359, then you have a conflict. Again, my best read on this.

Good luck!
1359 is block in.

My understanding after speaking with mec sched is that you can be sched for UP to 168 fdp without 30 hour rest. I'm at 144 and change, so supposed to be good. Still seems like big step backward.

Alaska Air Group Inc. (ALK) may lure takeover interest from Delta Air Lines Inc. with its Seattle hub and ability to generate more profit from its assets than most carriers.
The DOJ is the biggest issue with this merger, if it were to happen. The more overlap by these carriers the more scrutiny by the DOJ and vice versa. With the increased competition by these companies growing every month, I would say the chances of this happening are becoming less.

With the Narita hub becoming less important, I'd think an island hub in the Pacific might make sense.

This is correct. To make the calculation, you look at the sign-in for each fdp (basically duty day, except for DH only days). From that point, you look back 168 hours and have to find 30 hours free from duty.

In your case, you look back on the morning of the 7th and would find your rest on the 31st and 1st...

As Goggles pointed out a few pages back, the key for both the 30 hour and 10 hour rest requirements is that you look back and find the rest PRIOR to starting the fdp. You don't have to look back from the end of the period like we used to with Whitlow.

^^This is a big difference, and one that many guys aren't grasping intuitively^^

I was so boggled by 117 at the beginning that I have decided to put together an app that specifically handles Delta pilot 117 calculations (each carrier can have exemptions and unique FRMS' so a generic 117 app isn't very useful.) I'm working to have it ready by January 1st. If you have any functionality that you want included, let me know....

This was mentioned a few pages back so I took another look at 117.25 (b):
Before beginning any reserve or flight duty period a flightcrew member must be given at least 30 consecutive hours free from all duty in any 168 consecutive hour period.

The 30 in 168 needs to be met BEFORE starting a FDP. It is not a look back at the end of the trip. So I need to amend my hypothetical trip -

Day 1: report 1900, 5 hour FDP, 14 hour layover
Day 2: 10 hour FDP, 14 hour layover
Day 3: 10 hour FDP, 14 hour layover
Day 4: 10 hour FDP, 14 hour layover
Day 5: 10 hour FDP, 14 hour layover
Day 6: 10 hour FDP, 13 hour layover
Day 7: 5 hour FDP. Block in at 1800

When you report for the day 7 flying at 1300 you still have had 30 hours off in the previous 168. At block in on day 7 you will not have had 30 hours of rest in the previous 168 but that's ok since you had met the required rest PRIOR to starting the day 7 FDP.

This might be the answer to Monkeys question - as long as he had 30 off in 168 PRIOR to REPORTING for his last FDP he should be legal.

From this point forward, we need to repeat one simple fact every day.

The concessions extorted during chapter 11 are no longer necessary. It is long past time to snap up, eliminate all concessions and restore our scope, pay, work rules and quality of life.

If we cannot accomplish this now, in this environment, then we never will.

Condensed precisely. Please step up ALPA. Don't lose out to Tim through inaction. This is coming down to DALPAs defining moment.

In areas where we've made improvements, keep the improvements. Give the company some credit for those improvements. And then, instead of the 48% increase to our pay rates it would take for full buying power restoration, we could take something somewhat less (maybe 30%?) to allow for the other improvements. We're still donating our pensions and somewhere between $500K and $1 million per pilot in pay for the past 9 years. I think that's extremely reasonable on our part!

Really? I thought you had to have a 30 hour period in any rolling 168 hour period. This is going to be fun.
