I don't have any dALPA "buddies". You are deflecting the point of discussion though, and I am not going down that road with you. We do not make fleet decisions as pilots. Period. You cannot refute that no matter how hard you try.

Get it through your thick head... I'm not trying to refute it. I agree with you. But that doesn't change the fact that the agreement was sold to us that way by DALPA. I didn't buy it. You apparently didn't buy it either. Good for us!
Scary plan b was to furlough to Timbo minus 1. Kinda like the SWA/AT negotiation. |

What will DAL do about their declining feed? Do they have a plan in place to replace the regional flying that is being lost due to the worsening pilot shortage?

Ditto... We were told our vote would have an impact on whether the 717 was coming. That is all.

We either are or are not gonna get any more "bigger". If we do we do, if we don't we don't. It is a management decision. Kind of like SWA/AT negotiations only in reverse this time.. ;) This is fun. |

So now that we have red shirts (you know the reference) on the property, are you gonna say nuts to any furlough threat in the upcoming contract? I mean, DAL is making buckets of money, everybody loves us from an investment POV... maybe it is time to call the company's bluff on that. Can we live with any fallout as a result?

Interesting. I think Trainer was a good low cost gamble even if it failed to live up to expectations. I doubt any facilities like Trainer will go as cheap in the future.

Yeah, I think all in we are in it for $250 million. The next lowest cost refinery is in the $1 Billion neighborhood, and it needs a lot of work to be brought up to speed.... Trainer is living up to expectations as far as I know. It was never meant to be a profit center, but rather to give us better control of our fuel costs. It is really amazing how much we spend on fuel. Every $.01 in cost is a huge number to the bottom line.
The nice thing is that we have the shell corporation-- Monroe-- in place so if something does become available, we can jump on it. As the only airline with that sort of buffer against price spikes, we are unique among our peers, at least in this country... |
