Hey, ATL wx question-- I see we're expecting WX on 12th. My folks were supposed to nonrev through there on the 12th. I'm working on them travelling on 11th... where's the best place to go for info on what Delta is up to for cancellations etc? I've looked at Delta.com, nonrev alerts on travelnet, and all I see is a blurb saying "snowstorm at ATL (etc.) will affect travel 11-13 Feb. We'll cover rebookings..." basically.
Need some ATL WX irop experience help! What flights does Delta usually cancel when these IROPS happen, I've never really paid attention as I've been working and my flts went. Just the ones that transit ATL yes? If they travel from RSW > MSP > PHX, they shouldn't see any cancelled flights, correct? Thx Roadkill, I tried with my parents last time. Instead of PHL-ATL-LAX I sent them PHL-DTW-LAX. This may work but be careful. A lot of revenue passengers will also be rebooked to avoid ATL. Loads that looked great 1 day prior mostly filled up. 8 wrong airport landings out of over 100 million flights over the last decade. It's an epidemic!
That was the case for an MD-80 captain who nearly landed his mid-sized airliner at Page Field, a small airport in Fort Myers, Fla., used mainly by private pilots, instead of the much larger Southwest Florida International Airport nearby. A controller caught the mistake in time and suggested the captain explain the detour by telling passengers the flight was "touring downtown" Fort Myers. I remember flying the 727 into Page, (FMY) before the new RSW was opened! |
