I challenge this: strap on that snowboard, stand on top of that hill, then launch down it. While you're trying not to fall, pull off a couple or three or four, gyroscopic maneuvers that would make a 25 year old puke, and then land them without cracking your helmet in four places. That snowboard "punk crap" is more athletic than most of what you've seen in the Winter Olympics in the past 20 years, easy.... |
I agree the slopestyle should have remained an X-game, not an olympic sport. The guy couldn't have been more casual. This morning he said he prepped the night before by eating candy and chips. Nice. And his "big move"-- he just made it up as he went. Again, nice.
The downhill was exciting as always but the drone coverage and audio pickups makes it thrilling. Great camera work. The Austrian who won gold was literally on the tails of his skis the whole way down, and one curve the only thing making contact was the outside tail edge of his downhill ski. How did he even do that??? Courage and athleticism... the hallmarks of an Olympic sport. And yes, they sprayed the Sochi course with water. It's solid ice. |
Hey Buzz and other LAX brethren.
Update please on today's dog and pony show. Thx. |

Kind of like when pilots get together, there are "others" and then there are the MD-88 pilots. I'll be here all week, snowed in. |

I'm sure when all of the athletes get together there is the "others" and then there are the alpine skiers, ski jumpers and the luge guys. They exist in the same world but they're worlds apart.
