Yeah, I was suprised when I heard that number, that's why I don't believe I heard it 100% right. Maybe someone else who was there can corroborate. He did say that the company was dragging their feet until the GS starting flowing and they were not happy. The union's position became, "Well, we can fix it now, and it will cost you. Or, we can wait til section 6 to fix it and you can continue to pay out GS."

You heard it right. That's why I told my reps I'm in no hurry to conclude negotiations on 117. I've been at 130-135/month credit since 117 just like half my category...No complaints here.

Again I must ask, what could we possibly be willing to concede that would reduce the number of GS/IA events?

Funniest scene of this past month.... A senior FA in a red dress sporting the "tomato" look trying to get through the cheese grater with all her, uh stuff. The other 3 FA's in her crew pushing her through like it was a, ahem, "cheese" grater. It was everything I could do not to laugh my aff off.

Why doesn't our union use some contigency money to help the Junior guys at least offset some of the loss. Most, not all, but most reserve guys are Junior and it seems the leverage we have is being borne out by a small group of guys.
Any ideas?

I agree, the guys on reserve seem to be taking it for the team.

I don't know why a grievance hasn't been filed. DALPA is allowing management to take hostages, using those served with PDs as a bargaining chip to gain leverage.

I can understand why the company would do that, but I can't understand why DALPA is letting it go without a grievance.

Also, consider applying for a loan or grant from the furlough/emergency relief fund to help offset the PDs. IMO, this is exactly why the fund is there.

See above.
That's fine, but we need to do something to get the PD guys paid.
Why no grievance?

The union has made it clear to the company that any 117 agreement has to make any pilot given a PD whole. Absent a agreement by May a grievance will be filed for all involved pilots.

Why would management file a grievance with itself?

See what above? The relatively small number of issues being created by those reserve pilots who call in less than ten hours prior to report saying that they cannot report as scheduled cannot possibly be responsible for a significant number of the GS events we are seeing today.

Other than more short calls, reroutes, or pilots, I see no decrease in GS flying in our future.
