Btw I have good authority that Jesse is alive and well and still with with us another a differnt name. Have a good weekend APCers.

He needs to give us a sneak peek to know he's alive...... (Free Jessie 2014):D

I don't have a reference but I've done lots of maintenance flights and ferry flights in civvies. The mechanics and gate agents don't care what you wear.

The "followed by a deadhead" angle is another story. I hate to deadhead but I find it to be easier in uniform. Just so I can go down early and stick my bags in the overhead. (that's domestic. I actually enjoy international deadheads. In civvies. With a nice Courvoisier and some breadsticks :))

Thanks Check.

Yeah, I just got nailed by crew scheduling, unbelievable so. I bet they are still laughing. Since March 21st I've flown 90:28 so until April 18th at noon or so, I'm only good for 9:32. I'm on call thru the 18th, silly me, I thought (in my international category) I'd be sitting at home. DOH! I just got called for a 6 day trip that gets back about 0900 on the 18th. Scheduled block is 6:45. DH to NRT layover DH to SIN layover ferry flt SIN to NRT layover DH back to SEA....

The sad part is I thought I had worked my schedule to perfection this month. But for this trip I have.

Bring on the breadsticks and keep'em comin'!!!;)

Quick question about PBS, is Duty legs legs per day? I haven't tried to avoid trips with too many legs per day before on account of my juniority, but if I put in "avoid trips with duty legs greater than 2, " that will try to avoid trips with more than two legs per day correct? And if that is my only negative bid, if it can't avoid all those trips, it will drop that preference and try again with the rest of the trips in the pot again, right?

Thanks, E

Big E,
You're correct-- no harm done putting in an "avoid", if it can't do it, the avoid just gets denied as if it wasn't there.
HOWEVER-- the "legs per day" command is essentially worthless, the programming boolean logic is in error for what any reasonable person wants. The command will actually ONLY filter trips where EVERY DAY HAS 2 LEGS! So, if you put "avoid trips with 3 legs per day", you'll only avoid the single trip in the bidpack that has exactly 3 legs every single day!

And then they messed up the "NOT" also. Basically, no combo of using that command will filter out "ANY TRIP with 3 or 4 legs on a day".

The if you're good with 2 or 1 legs per day on a trip, the thing that works BEST, even if you get that denied, is this:
AWARD PAIRINGS IF DUTY LEGS BETWEEN 0 and 2 LEGS (COUNTING DH LEGS) if NOT REDEYES
AWARD PAIRINGS IF NOT REDEYES
AWARD PAIRINGS that don't totally suck (by number?)
AWARD PAIRINGS

That way, you don't worry that if you get denied your sched gets wiped clean of any potential 1 leg trips. Even with "avoids" up above, in a denial, it will still try to give you as many 1 leg non-redeyes as it can first before giving you the dregs. Now that "forget" has been removed, cascading (painful I know) preferences is the way to go.

I met dalad on the jetway yesterday.

What, do you guys have your APC callsign hanging on your bag stitched on a tag or something??
I don't think I met anyone, but I did fly with great guys for a month who actually bought equal or more rounds than me. Which is unusual but a nice offer ;)
Oh, and I made it across the country without turning on the seatbelt light, AND tower offered the closest RWY to our parking on the last leg B4 commute, AND no one slowed us down below .80 all the way from JFK home, which made me rush out and buy a lotto ticket!

How did that conversation work? I'm trying to figure out how to go about outing myself.

On second though, that might not be a good plan.

Denny

That's a cognac and breadsticks trip if ever there was one.

What's up with that? Delta must have a broken down bus at Changi. ??

Because when I say hi to the next crew taking the jet I always say "Hi, I am Forgot to Bid from airlinepilotcentralforums.com/latest and greatest about Delta..."

Posting on apcf has been good for me. My wife really digs the 16,000+ posts and she reads what I write while I am on the road. When I get home, she meets me at the door...
