Purple, I used the CA Law to take sick leave for a family member - no issues and very easy. This was in April 2012 and I have not heard anything negative from any other LAX guys. Don't know anything about lowering headcount, but I think Pilot productivity and Pilot sick leave will usage will be two of the companies "talking -points" for the next round of contract talks. Well then it is incumbent upon you and me and all of us to make sure our friends and family write to our congressmen/senators and fight against those numbnuts like Marco Rubio that don't think things like a preclearance facility in abu dhabi us any big deal.

How come it doesn't "remind" you to flare? Or raise the gear? It's creepy and annoying. Where's the CB? And I turn autothrottles off on most of my landings... or is it autothrust? :)
Like it or not, the airbus is a seniority changer. Guys that are on it don't want to leave, and the guys that aren't on it want nothing to do with it. |

I turn the AT off on most landing in the airbus too. Have you have been on an airbus? I'm not going to tell you the airplane is something it's not, just seems like bad info.

So CA, WA, NY, MN have it, so I guess the company is going to put everyone in ATL and CVG!
I'm just sharing a couple of rumors I've heard from DALPA guys and CP types and trying to verify. that is all. |

Just loaded the ALPA mobile APP because it says they have Jump-Seat information and KCM sites. Looking at it all I see are links to articles and press releases - am I missing something?

They have LGBP, so aircraft type doesn't matter. Coverting the top scale CA (10 yr) pay over there is $10548 +16.26 per flt hour.
The first 97k is tax free so that helps to the tune of $24,300/yr = $2,025/mo So an 80 hour month= $10548+1,300+2025= 13,873 = $173/hr. (effective rate conversion) Flying on days off is $176+$16.26/hr, so a 10 hr 2-day pays $515 (not sure on the calc for this) 401k is 12% until after year 10, then 15% Housing/utilities paid... But you have to live in the sandbox. This info comes from APC Emirates profile. I think the recent rebounds in compensation at US legacies is starting to outstrip the MEA's. Another solid round of increases will really start to stem of the flow over to the ME from the US. Now if the NAI "flag of convenience" model is permitted to work in the US, all bets are off. |

Just playing devils advocate, but you also need to remember that EK pilots get free housing and utilities and a driver to go to work. Literally the only thing you need to pay for is a cell phone and eating.
However, you've got to live there. If you can get over that hurdle, well, I guess you've got it licked. I've been there, I don't hate it, but I won't live there. |
