Alfa,
Would you say it's bad to represent a group of pilots if they were all furloughed Delta guys? |

Just remember that "DPA" if not run by a transparent group of people will be the same. It is the individuals you elect that make the difference, not the name on the sign.

yes but its a good way to dump alot of the current bad potatoes
Fact is that for there to be the change that many state they want, they need to get involved and change it from the ground up. |

Alfa,
Would you say it's bad to represent a group of pilots if they were all furloughed Delta guys? Any way you slice this issue, it is in the delta pilots interests to wait and see what develops. There are too many landmines with going this way and hoping that the CPS MEC files for a seniority integration. Fact is that with them separate we could then combine all of the WO's at once, but I do not see that on the agenda either. All I say is if this is not want you want make your voice heard in vote and in communication to the reps that represent you. |
Divestiture
Knowing this was coming down the pike isn't making me any less angry to hear about it tonight. I really want to know why divestiture of CPS is so important to Moak that he'd force a divisive vote down "party lines" to accomplish it. Publicly he's never come out for it, only said that there are "difficult issues" to consider. A 13-12 vote doesn't sound like those issues have been resolved.
Here's my fear of where we're going from here. None of the ALPA volunteers I've talked to at CPZ are relishing the thought of an independent MEC, and none are planning to run. We know our management too well: old school red tail types who will attack their employees at the first sign of weakness. Being responsible for a newly independent MEC with little support under those circumstances doesn't sound very fun; I fear the election will go to whoever finally steps up and shouts loudest. So far, the loudest shouters have been a small contingent of ex-ATA pilots who were very vocal about DALPA representation being a conflict of interest (they got Moak's ear very quickly). These guys have no interest in flowing to DAL, feel no obligation whatsoever to mainline, and are pretty PO'd at ALPA about what went down at their last airline, and IMHO will, if elected, fight to kill the flowback and won't be shy about chasing more flying, E190 included. They will be representing "present CPZ pilots," not "future DAL pilots." Basically, we're talking Comair II. I hope it doesn't happen, but if it does you can lay it squarely at Moak's feet. |
Frankly, my comment, DPA+1, was not aimed at our current LEC's or MEC. It was based on the statements by a recent jumpseater who recently quit doing ALPA work. According to him, DALPA contributes over 12 Million per year to the coffers of ALPA Nat'l. Our R.O.I. however, is only a little over 3 Million per year. We are, according to him, subsidizing everyone else in ALPA. Is this true, or am I p/o'ed for no good reason? If it is true, we certainly could use that money to start and maintain our own "in house" union, hence the DPA+1 comment.

Many resolutions were put forth telling the LEC's to tell the MEC's to keep CPS. My gosh, North, South, East West, we all did it even after this merger's ink was barley dry. That was unity from all ranks!!!!!
I know I'm sounding like a broken record here, but it obviously bears repeating: None of this matters as long as the MEC Chairman doesn't agree. Our union is being run by one man. The other members are far too timid to raise a voice against Lee. I still cannot believe the dear leader has been able to rule like this for so long. I've heard him speak. I was underwhelmed. I just don't see how he's been able to keep up the hypnosis of the other union "leaders." DALPA...listen to Carl...SNAP OUT OF IT!! Now when you open your eyes, you'll feel refreshed as though you've slept all night. You'll have an overwhelming urge to listen to your constituents and vote accordingly. You'll have no memory of anyone named Lee. Abra...cadabra. Carl |
Carl,
You are wise beyond your years! "It's in the hole!" |
Can someone shed some light on the advantages and opportunity for a Compass MEC to file for seniority integration, as we are all part one one wholly owned company...
