Yes, you need to drag it to be there for the 0500 show the next day, but you will be released the evening prior.

The section is 23 G 5 from the PWA. I argued the point that the LCA can actually release you since this is how it is written:

5. An LCP may remove a First Officer from a rotation or any portion thereof for the purpose of conducting OE.

I was in the exact same situation where the sign in was early in the morning and crew scheds wasn't releasing you unitl 7pm the night before. I had called the LCA and he said I could be released because he had already contacted the pilot getting the IOE and he was already in position. The company and the union said that they had a verbal agreement to do the 7pm release the night prior.

Fast forward a couple of months and I had another IOE trip being bought, however the LCA wanted the FO that was being released to show up planeside and he would release him. He said that the FO was being paid anyway so he at least had to show up. This lead back to the last conversation about scheduling doing the releasing. The LCA wasn't happy but I was released. (just so you know we only had one LCA in NYC on the ER that wanted you to come planeside)

Thanks guys! I figured I'd have to show up anyway. The good thing is, the last flight home is at 2120. Or I could throw a greenie in for the next day and make my commute up more worth it.

I said that a long time ago. I can't see them doing them though as they will pay 10:30. They would definitely go senior. Can you imagine a split duty greenslip paying 21:00? Anyone at this company would be all over that.

Hey TSquare or any other LCA,
Got a question for you guys. What is the protocol now for getting replaced by a guy doing OE? Do I still have to show up at sign in, or can the LCA release me a day prior or so? I know we aren't subject to 23K anymore, and can pick up additional flying. JUst wondering if I have to drag it to NYC for an 0500 show.

Look up 23G in the contract. You will get called by scheduling around 7:00-7:30 the night prior. You will probably have to drag it up to NYC unless you can wait until 7:00-7:30 the night prior before leaving....unless you want to take a big risk.

Any ipad air users out there? I figured out how to load the manuals from the fleet page by opening them, copying, then moving it to ibooks. The only one that I can't get to download is the FOM Pt.1. It will open after putting in the security password, and doing what I did with all the other manuals, it doesn't work. Any ideas? Doesn't sound like the secure content locker is an option for the Air either for a while.

Use the GoodReader app. It will still require the security code each time you open the document.

Can anyone point to the section of the contract that talks about how a GSWC gets paid?

...that and when the PUB events are....and when CASS is down.....and when someone drops a deuce at HQ.......BUT.....you won' forget to bid!:D

I did have Blasts...then they stopped. The funny thing is I get the best lines the times I forget to bid. And this month was no exception. Lucky I guess....

Baja.

BTW - HOW do you sign up for Blasts? Am I the only person who can never navigate the ALPA webpages?

Only true if there are the same number or more reserve days remaining that current month. Otherwise the PB days go in the bank and you can place them anywhere you want as long as there is coverage and without the other constraints of moving/dropping days.

So technicaly speaking, sometimes you can put them wherever you want. Its fairly common especially for days earned towards the end of the month where there is no place to put them that month.
