That's awesome!

He absolutely said it, as did slowplay and the rest. And they were correct. Sustained corporate profits are our best leverage. Our union is just choosing not to use that leverage in deference to the strategy of being a corporate partner. That's our union's strategy. Guess we'll see how it plays out.

Guys,

What do you think about trying to change our travel benefits for the better? I am not sure what we should try for, but nonreving in the summer is continually getting harder.

Some possibles alternatives could include:
Positive space vacation passes.
Discounted tickets that are actually discounted - unlike fly confirmed for (not) less.

Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

What are you willing to...

Ohhh, I'll just let somebody else say it. ;)

You shouldn't seek contractual benefit answers on this forum, particularly as it pertains to retiree benefits. Tom has been retired a while, and his benefits are different than those who retire today.

There is no post-Medicare coverage for pilots retiring today.

Scoop,

I've thought about that also because the current load factors (great for Delta) make it increasingly difficult to non rev especially as a family.

I'd like to see an annual allotment of "one great team" type passes for all primary pass riders.

For the "I-don't-care-about-that-crowd" and the "what-are-you-willing-to-give-up-for-that-crowd" (see above) I'd be happy to take our non-rev system to a 3-tier plan:
  • $0 Jumpseat privileges
  • $50 pass rider benefits as we have now
  • $500 access to annual one great team passes
I'd also like to see a 20% discounted friends and family ticket and a 40% off confirmed refundable ticket option for all pass riders.

I thing the $500 access fee would make this plenty "cost neutral."

Cheers
George

Is that Buzz, leaving LAX at sunset, to fly to the ATL? :D

Nice work! Buzz will probably want a copy!

All I want is a few PS1's for the family, for a vacation pass, so we can actually count on getting there!

I doubt I'd pay $500 to ride on passes. I hate going to the airport on my days off already, for only $50/yr.

Note the trend. Delta & Alaska up. United & Southwest, down.

Told you Delta and Alaska were not aiming at eachother. They have a coordinated fire solution on Southwest and U-Cal.

"Share a career?" Sorry, I don't get to collect fpl, get wined and dined by management, enjoy an expense account, and generally mooch off the pilots' dues. The entrenched bureaucrats most certainly do not "share my career."

I was referring specifically to our elected reps. In them, I see nothing but honest, hard-working pilots who have decided to step up and defend and advance the profession and career that we share.
