We are going on a Europe cruise next week and bought regular tix so we wouldn't chance not getting on as non rev's. Turns out the flight we bought tx for is wide open after all, especially in BE.
Wondering what the protocol (if any) is for talking our way up to biz class? Is this even done anymore? Thanks! |

I always used them for practice for the oral, but that was back when we actually took a real, live one on one oral, where the IP would point at every switch and light and ask you, "What's that one do? What's that light mean?" etc. We would buddy up and play stump the dummy, pointing at the switches and lights on the posters, for practice.
My last oral was in 2006, with a real human being asking me questions off a poster on the wall, with the FAA watching me closely (word had gotten out!). I hear all the 'orals' now are actually 100 question, multiply choice tests taken on a computer, is that right? I also heard they 'suck', because there are a lot of trick and/or poorly worded questions... |
I was thinking of getting the A line a box of Busken cookies and seeing what happens. Im worried the gate agent might frown upon the request as the tix we bought are Fly confirmed for less. Sometimes the agents aren't real big fans of the pilot group.
We really don't care so much about the food and all. Just looking for a bigger seat so we can get some sleep! |

Plus ALPA's cut, right?
You avoid income tax but they deduct Social Security, ALPA and also DPMA. That's the reason I use 90% instead of 100%. If you tell Fidelity 100%, then all those deductions come out of your next check. Not a big deal unless you have some other pre-arranged deductions or budgeting issues. |

The -200's all have a dual pilot/FA crew rest facility in the very back of the aircraft down in the cargo compartment. The FA's are on one side and the pilots are on the other. The -300's all have a seat, 9A (it SUCKS) I think. With the FAR 117 agreement, the -300's will all eventually get bunks.
As far as your second question goes.........what is your seniority!?! And where do you want to bid it? :) Denny Check your PM's. |

Busken's: good choice. They bake them right down the street from me. I walk my dogs at night and gain five pounds just breathing the air.

AE Bid just closed. As I vacillated between the school house, a reduction in hourly rates, probability of coverage awards, maybe a weekend off, or a conjugal visit on a 30+ hour productivity sit, as I looked at all my friends' schedules, it struck me ....

I just wish someone from Dalpa would check the insane reroutes occasionally!
Tracking just this week changed the rotations of not less than 8 crewmembers thru reroute just to get a maint. ferry to ATL, when it would have been simple to just DH 2 crew to fly the flight back! |

They can't do anything about it, it's a regional shortage. Delta can't spend money to train someone at Skywest, and then two weeks later said person is flying for UAL. Ab-intio only works if the pilot is going to mainline.
This is why I say the clock is ticking on DCI, as these other carriers besides 9E, have to choose which contracts they want to cover. Since the ASA's with Delta are written in favor of DAL, they will be dropped first. First of all DL wouldn't be spending anything to train someone. They would be spending it themselves. We will likely see the sector adopt retention bonuses and training contracts in many forms, including "tuition forgiveness" and "scholarships". My point about flight academies was to mention the lack of action going on at the supply end of things for the regionals. That has to be addressed, regardless of how this all shapes out. I still don't see your version of a connectionless DL while all the other savvy majors scoop up all the ACMI lift as anything remotely close to reality. |
