That's a loaded question. Tha answer is most certainly a loaded gun pointed straight at us. Financially, on an individual basis, I certainly am better than I was because our contract is better than it was 6 years ago. But the party in power has unleashed policy on this country (not only in the form of the "ACA") that will not truly be felt for several more years, and the damages of which will not be undone for generations.

I think this is achievable in the negotiation/grievance process. Carl mentioned ending the JV but I doubt an arbitrator would force the company to stop commerce. The punishment doesn't fit the crime and it doesn't even really help Delta pilots.

Oberon gets it.

It depends on how you measure it. Financially? Most definitely. But I am highly educated, have an unique, highly sought after skill set, and benefit from a contract that raised my compensation dramatically in the last 6 years. In 2008 I was a new hire making 60 an hour. Now I make twice that.

The average American does not have those advantages and has suffered greatly. The real unemployment rate is still double digits and some of those that are employed are working part time or multiple part time jobs. 92 million people aren't working in this country, 11.5 million more than in 2008. And the population has grown all those years.

As for T's point about the ACA, I, as a military retiree, am somewhat insulated from that fiasco, for now. But that is a liberty stealing fiscal suitcase nuke waiting to explode. Why do you think O has delayed and waived that law countless times?

Liberty wise, we are much less free than we were 6 years ago. I think the damage done to the Constitution and our previously limited government may never be undone. I blame both sides for that.

See. If Boeing would just get with the program they would realize they need three engines on their extended FLUF jets and move the engines to the tail to have more ground clearance.

As a life long conservative, I absolutely agree.

The problem is the area highlighted in red. It changes good people for the worst and empowers the worst to be even worse then they were going in.

And it's sick it's the richest section of the country. The top two richest counties in the country are there as are 4 out of the top 5 and 6 out of the top 10.

I think if I could be President the first thing I'd do is cancel the White House Correspondence Dinner. Just to watch all of the heads explode.

None of this changes the fact that we actively codeshare with these carriers. They are flying people that bought tickets from the company that employs us. I didn't like flying the 737, but you don't see me making statements that I'd never get caught dead flying it. This is not about an airplane type- this is about scope. We are rapidly parking 25% of our largest fleet type with no replacement on property (apparently the 333IGW will be the capacity replacement when it gets here via reading between the lines), while our codeshare partners expand their "premium" fleets.

You don't care about small end scope, and I get that since it is mostly self mitigating at this point in time (the pendulum will swing the other way). However, this is top end jobs at DL being whisked away actively. Korean Air believes they should be doing all the Pacific flying. You've heard RA say that at the meetings.

So... where do we go from here? You constantly harp on hopey changey stuff yet you have presented so few ideas of your own- just mostly insults to others. Let's hear it, t. What can we do with the dynamics of the last few days other than ride the wave?
Well stated Clamp. T brings nothing to the table, but harps against others who want to stop the insanity.

I like the way you think. A fine for past infractions and a fix going forward. Maybe we should also keep the staffing higher than required for 3 years plus a 1 year cure period beyond when the company comes into compliance...fair is fair.
