Why are we so bad at IROPS? Of the three airlines I have worked for, we are by far the worst at handling IROPS.

I wasn't there so I really can't comment... but I will anyway.
If a pilot needed a hotel, could not get in touch with anyone, why didn't said pilot just go get a hotel and expense it? I can't imagine a scenario where I would sleep in the crew lounge where the company owed me a hotel. Short of no rooms available. Different story there. R1 We had a DH pilot on board who said he and many other pilots were stuck in the airport all night, and there were pax sleeping on the floor everywhere, because there were no rooms available on VA. Ave or anywhere else. He said the company was looking at busing crews down to hotels in Newnan, and thinking about taking crews in a 757 up to Louisville to layover! |

I'm fairly certain the other 2 airlines you worked for were much smaller. However, Delta is waaaaay behind in technology from an operational standpoint. That's a big factor.
(thunderstorms in the south in August are so rare, just like that one ice storm that only happens once in a 100 years, every year) |

I saw a tester in the pilot lounge. The software was good. I tried to hook up the mounting bracket in the cockpit. It is a challenge in the 737 coming up with the right spot. I think they may need a slimmer bracket for that airplane at least. I think MS committed to supporting RT for longer than the expected service life of the tablet so I don't think we will be left with a brick.

Because we are still using computer technology from the late 80's. They were suppose to be upgrading it, but that plan got scrapped. Unless they pre-cancel flights about a day out, the system can't handle the re-routes and it is all done manually.
http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view3/129...facepalm-o.gif Although I will say in my category, they cancelled flights and while I didn't throw in for a GS, at 40%ish in category I wasn't senior enough to get one. Well, except one that went out as GS #2 but it would conflict with my Monday trip. I could've gotten a WS, those went out. But I didn't get a single robo call. Yet they cancelled 717 flights for lack of 717 crews. http://www.cinemablend.com/images/ne...1274261788.jpg Maybe Jughead was right, the common denominator for me and all of my rejections in life is... me. I need to learn to drink. |
