Check your bill, I think they forgot to give you the new hips.

If anyone is interested in a different option in sailing the Caribbean then Chartering feel free to drop me a note via pm. We have a few pilots interested in a high end monohull with 4 to 5 partners. The boat would not be chartered and only for partner use.

Recently flew with a guy who freely admitted to being "as critical as possible" on his probation critiques. His reasoning was that, by being as critical as possible, he was giving the company the best opportunity to evaluate it's new hires.

Then again, he also felt the need to coach me through every descent and approach for 4 days despite the fact that I have twice the amount of time on the Mad-Dog that he does....

Hopefully there's a vetting process of some sort for these critiques.

I once asked my LEC lead where DALPA's goals were listed. He said the goals were the survey. Immediate facepalm.

Hey Nerd, what does happen with these critiques? You seem to be more informed about them than most of us.

During my midphase CPO newhire meeting, the CP went through the ratings and comments with me. No names attached, just the raw grades and comments grouped by grading area.

I don't know what else happens to the comments unless there's an issue that needs to be addressed, but I appreciated reading them though personally I think most Capts are reluctant to be critical.

Some examples from mine:

"Of all the new first officers I've flown with, he is definitely one of them."
"Shows up to most flights. Often on time."
"Amazing customer engagement. Ensured they were kept informed by responding to radio calls on the PA."

You flew with comedians.

I never had mine reviewed. Of course I don't recall a meeting with the CPO either, I guess I got lost in the mix.

I think this is a new process. With the huge hiring going on this time, I believe they're trying to put some sort of more organized quality control system in place to identify potential problems before probation is up.

I've slipped through that screen by ordering extra nametags with the names of the pilots in my class with higher SSNs. So far, I've jumped seven seniority numbers!

I was told they can see each CA's overall average. If there is a bad report they check how he grades overall. Make sure you wear shoes and socks to work. Socks alone will hurt your evaluation!
