BUT, before chipotle rewards my hard work and take my $7.89USD in exchange for their tasty tasty flour tortilla wrapped magic pill........

DUDE. dude dude dude.

I would like you and gzsg to pick up the phone. Dial the number of your very own personal LEC reps and say the following:

"Good evening, thank you for your service on my behalf. If you have time I would like to ask you two questions. First, has the MEC given the negotiating committee new direction in light of the American contract and other market changes? Second, if I may, why aren't the contract survey results being released by the MEC?"

Do this. Then please report back to the class what you have been told. P-R-E-C-I-S-E-L-Y.

Then, we can rejoin this discussion after my burrito.

Namaste.

Why didn't our leadership email a table with the new rates to our pilots?

What's the status of the AA pilots pensions?

It feels like you are clumsily baiting me with a false choice.

Certainly, there are leaks, rumors, reports, trial balloons, what have you. One size does not fit all. Some are credible, and some are not. Some are lies, some are half-truths. Some are dead-on accurate. I suppose everyone has his own criteria for determining their value.

I reach my own conclusions as to the validity (or lack thereof) of various tidbits of information that make their way down to us. I imagine you do the same.

And to think there aren't guys in DALPA feeding management the inside scoop is fairly naive, IMHO.

We’ll take our next question from [random reporter] from Bloomberg News.

Random Reporter - Bloomberg News
Hi, folks. Can you talk a little bit about how you’re going to afford that new pilot contract?

Richard Anderson
Even with this new pilot contract our labor costs are still lower than barely a decade ago, our pilot productivity is still higher, and our profits are still record setting, and we're still able to re-invest billions back into the product for the consumer as well as return billions to the shareholders in the forms of investment grade dividends as well as buybacks at record high prices. Wait, what? Um Ed, you have anything to add bruh?

Ed BastianThanks bruh. Even after this pilot contract, like he mentioned, we're still paying far less and getting far more productivity from our pilots…especially when we back out our self inflicted training bubble from operating 10 or so largely redundant and overlapping fleet types. Furthermore, there is no multibillion dollar pension shortfall to contend with, as that was 100% dumped. While we pay out profit sharing which is part of the contract, it becomes a built in pay cut for the entire company…except us amirite…when and if things get bad, so its a built in concession that exceeds anything else in the industry. We are also enjoying the fruits of our "permanent reset" in the form of work rules and perks like 7 weeks of vacation now down to 5, touch drop vacation, bow waves, caps and the hammers of 3.B.6. and the FAR117 notification issue have been permanently surrendered to us. So yeah, we're paying them a lot more right now than we were a couple years ago, but still less than we were barely a decade ago adjusted for inflation and we're getting much higher productivity from them while they work cheaper than that time, all while our profits are even higher than ever. We also have to thank our pilots for helping us lock down the Alaskan Air Line code share abuse and guaranteeing a point of no return for that unhealthy relationship. This has allowed us to grow like gangbusters in the crucial SEA market recapturing previous marketshare lost by shortsighted managers. We are now finally proud to once again call Seattle a HUB! Does that answer your question?

Random Reporter - Bloomberg News
Not really, because B-school teaches that labor is bad and junk. But you're more profitable and the pilots are cheaper and more productive, so I guess that's OK. Where can I buy your stock?

That's not true. I don't recall Richard Anderson ever saying that. ;)

Purple and gzsg still have homework to report back on. Then we can continue.

Burro was solid btw, if enquiring minds wanted to know.

I'm getting a burrito.

Clearly the NC is composed of nothing but morons that were grabbed at the last possible minute. They have no clue what they are doing, and they hate all us line dogs. Just like Bob Uecker calling a play at the plate, the forum rabble knows what's really going down. This is the place to find the truth. Pravda!
