Well if you land at midnight it's clearly the next day by the time you get to the room.... so not really "overnight" at that point.

There was a great cheap kinda cheesy restaurant called La Cascada (the waterfall). Tons of seafood cheap.

You can go to J street (calle Jota) the area of ill repute and drink cheap beer and enjoy the show. There's a place there that sells a 25cent plate of spaghetti for the 3am munchies.

The locks are cool to see in the daytime.

Fishing in gatun lake you can fill a 48 quart cooler with peacock bass in a couple hours.

Just some ideas.

There's usually a dark room with beds in most domiciles just for that purpose.

I just clicked on one of the banner ads on this site. it was advertising B737 and A320 FO's up grade to captain somewhere in China. They are offering 1,700,000 RMB to 1962000 RMB (equates to 295k to 307k) at 50 hours guaranteed. Interesting, I thought so I kept reading. up to 15,000 dollar bonus for each year you complete your contract year. (two separate bonuses) Any time over 50 hours you fly, your into overtime.

The above rates are for NB Captains! Restoration still out of the question?

Last I knew there were no beds in the MSP base, you may be saving a few coins...but probably no rest.

An Eva Air Boeing 747-400, registration B-16406 performing flight BR-667 from Atlanta,GA to Anchorage,AK (USA) with 2 crew and hazardeous (flammable) goods on board, was climbing out of Atlanta's runway 09L when the crew reported a gear door problem and levelled off at 5000 feet. The crew subsequently reported they also had a hydraulic quantity low indication. After working the related checklists the crew climbed the aircraft to 9000 feet to dump fuel, requested runway 09L for the return due to performance necessities, the crew declared PAN advising they were still working on their nose gear issue, they had the gear down but weren't sure whether they had nose gear steering. On final approach the crew advised they had no nose gear steering and needed to be towed off the runway. The aircraft landed safely on runway 09L about 75 minutes after departure, the crew advised no further assistance was needed, and the aircraft was towed off the runway.

Been away a few days, sorry if this was already answered I'm a few pages behind...

The Q-Runner is Kew Gardens, LGA, and JFK only, it does not go to EWR. The Crew Runner on the other hand, is the Delta funded FA ride to work which services all 3 airports. Go to Deltanet and do a search for "crew runner schedule". They change schedules every season so you need to be on top of unannounced schedule changes and check Deltanet often.

i try and read the PWA and its like a foreign language. i promise have tried to read section 23 N & O. The follow on question is.... can i call scheduling and politly say i am new and stupid and to please edumacate me without ****ing anyone off and getting fired before i get off probation? i just don't really get how they award reserve and I am too stupid to understand the PWA. Thanks Dudes!
I called about this very item and a very rude scheduler basically told me to go eff off without actually dropping an f-bomb. Then I got the punitive 3am short call the next 3 days in a row, so you YMMV when you call scheduling with gripes. Scheduling is the drive-thru, I'd call ALPA before scheduling.

BTW, what I am 69% certain of is they like to (and can legally) fill a 3 day trip with a guy that has 3 days availability and not waste somebody who has 5 days regardless of what bucket you're in.

thanks dudes for the scheduling answer with regards to reserve. I called, was very chill, they had me on hold for awhile as she got the supervisor, and that guy said that the pilot that should have gotten the call had "chief pilot review" or something on his schedule. So I wasn't completely tumbleweed after all.

We'll need a follow up in a day....did you end up with a 3am short call the next day on reserve?

In hindsight, wasn't much scheds could do to you as you already had the trip!!!!
