Buzz,
What are people going to be MD'd off into the DC9? The DC9 category is shrinking. There will be much more room on the 737's, 320's, and MD88's. |

I agree, and that is why I moved.
So if you are going to move, where will it be too? The Republic of Texas if not GRB? |

The widebody guys getting kicked off their jets, especially in ATL. It'll be a trickle down. 76 guys will move to the 73, bumping them into the 320, and the 320 guys will move onto the 88, bumping those guys onto the 9. Even though the company has announced an increase in narrow body flying, there's a commensurate decrease in the wide body's. For example, they've closed the domestic 76 category in LA. Most of those guys moved down to the 73, which is why I've lost serious seniority. I can't see too many guys chasing the 320 to SLC. Less pay, commute, etc. Those 73 guys will move to the 88/90 and bump the more junior guys to the 9. I hope I'm wrong. I'd love to stay right where I'm at. However, I think there's gonna be a seismic shift with this bid and I'm preparing for all options. 777A in DTW would be nice, wink, wink.

Northern CA or Colorado. My wife's family lives in the Sacramento area and we're big skiers, so that would work if I get SLC. If not, our last USAF assignment was Colorado and we could definitely do that. Easier commute from DIA to SLC, MSP or DTW as well. We're game. We love it here in Ventura County but its damned expensive and really getting to the point that its not worth it.
I am guessing two to three years before LAX grows, and I bet it is commensurate with a few other things. |
Im planning on VD'ing from the JFK 7ER to the DTW DC9 B, so hopefully I can save a more junior guy from getting MD'd. Making the move, tired of commuting.
|
The only wild card in this is that there are so many new bases for guys to bid, that if it makes a commute easier or non-existent there will be moves that would not normally happen.
Just bid what you can stomach, or where you want to be if you have seniority. If you do not have the seniority, pray for the best, and hope that we hire soon! ;) |
Johnso29,
I am ATL based. There was no reason that did not assign me the balance of the trip. Per the contract, it is put into open time and then covered by the PWA. It sucks, but that is how it works. On another note: "Delta has shown the ability to gain antitrust immunity in several markets, and has cooperated with regulators to reduce capacity if required to ensure competitive balance." I hope its JAL's capacity that is reduced and not ours. That would suck!! |

Hey..If the we did get the JAL deal, Delta should come up with some new marketing slogans like
"Delta Air Lines. Kicking arse and taking names, one airline at a time." Maybe we can get Chuck Norris, or Tiger's Wife!!! Please feel free to entertain us with your ideas!! |
