Sorry, Pursuer.

He may have talent, but if he was leading crew scheduling since 2007, then that's a problem. Our crew scheduling department is terribly understaffed and still does a number of tasks with pencil and paper. This even though we merged with an airline that brought a state of the art computerized crew management system to the party.

Talent is meaningless if you don't show improvement. It's even worse when you're handed state of the art, and you stick with last century.

Now go ahead and tell me that I'll complain about free tickets everyone.

Indeed. We have a ton of talent on the fNWA side as well, but it appears that the ethnic cleansing needs to be completed before we move toward best practices acceptance.

Carl, for the love of God man. When it came to getting FAA approval, DAL needed this to happen fast. They couldn't wait for the legacy DAL IT systems to be upgraded to work the NWA software.

They didn't "stick" with last century, they were forced to. They are upgrading. Give it time man. Give it time. They can't do everything overnight.

FWIW Carl, scheduling went to the crows after he left. 28 new bodies has something to do with it. On the job training in that type of environment is very unforgiving.

Are these the same management guys you warn us about constantly as being evil, smart, and out to steal our birthdays? Which is it?

Look man, you have to learn to be more discerning when you hear stuff. You have indeed correctly stated the talking points at that time, but it is absolute BS. The FAA is always pleased to see the adoption of state of the art systems. Despite what you hear, the FAA is mostly very forward thinking. It was DAL that decided they didn't want to make a change because they wanted to train the fewest number of people. In the case of crew scheduling, many are gone and replaced with new people. New people that had to be trained. And most ironicly, trained in last century's technology.

Again - Nobody forced Delta to do this...nobody! Certainly not the FAA. It was Delta's choice. And I believe our current difficulties show what a poor choice that was.

Those were the leveraged buyout owners and the executive VP level and above. The Chief Pilot types and Fleet Capts were all good guys. To see them tossed aside like yesterday's newspaper is just sad and a waste of talent. For example, the reinventing of the wheel out in Asia is getting old.

ACL,

He left the position at the beginning of this year. That wasn't very long ago.

On the job training would be a lot more forgiving if the training was on state of the art systems, instead of how to schedule with paper and pencil.

Carl, I do not argue that the system needs updating. Ask the guys on the integration team why they choose it. I was surprised as to why.

Either way it needs updating and it is getting updated.
