Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Johonso. It is of course not a line holders responsibility to check his schedule like a reserve pilot. You notify after the awarded trips are on your LOT the month prior.
If they pull your trip, it is their obligation to call you.
Scambo;
If you report for the original trip, you are then under the control of the LCA. He can release you at the gate as I have had done many times. They may or may not have recovery at that time.

report of his originally scheduled rotation, the pilot will have no recovery obligation.
That is how I understand it. Report and get released as well. Lots of time they will forget or not notify. LCA's get sick, and by not notifying you, you do your trip as well.
Old news but here's some fun time video. Delta Air Lines Is Hiring 1,000 New Flight Attendants for International Routes - ABC News
You're pulled from trip 24 hours prior and not assigned to anything 12 hours prior. Why would you go in? If the LCA gets sick 8 hours prior, wouldn't they have to find a new Capt AND call a reserve FO?

I think he is presenting a hypothetical situation in which one was never notified of a schedule change, or never notified that their trip is being used for IOE.
Ferd;
I am going off the assumption that if pulled from ones line and there was no notification, by default, even though it is not on the pilots line, there is no notification stating that he has been notified, or the trip is truly pulled.
Having a trip removed from your LOT is fine, but it does not constitute notification. Heads up, yes, but unless you are called, you are still obligated. If the LCA sicks out and you have not called within 12 hrs of report (no obligation) and do show up and subsequently the LCA has sicked out, you have no showed a trip. There is no notification except from Scheduling to state the trip is not yours.
It is a big ole circle Ferd, but until you talk to scheduling the trip is yours. So if I have not been notified, I just show up. I have had it happen twice where the trip was removed, but I was not notified. I showed up and the LCA no showed the last minute. I went, even though it was not on my line.
Best advice is to set an alarm for 12 hrs prior to report, and call them at 11+58 asking about it. I live locally so it is of no consequence to me. I let them call me. Calling over there always leads to an unknown!
