I guess that the green book guys are just getting on the 747 (or within the last few years) and are staying around (despite almost working for free because of their retirements) hoping to block the red book guys off the 747 until the DL/NW fences fall in four years so that the former Delta guys can bid the airplane and keep the old red book guys out of it.

At least that's how he explained it. Nothing like working for free just out of spite.

I know nothing about this.. and not trying to start any kind of rumor, but I'd bet a dozen doughnuts that this is precisely one of the reasons that DAL has not moved the 747 to ATL. Can you imagine the upheaval on the seniority list??? After the fences come down, I wouldn't be surprised to see that happen... Then it's one for all.. LOL

Same guy, still. Not sure how he keeps his job with that winning personality of his. He must have pictures of somebody, or something!

In a nutshell without detail, increased costs! Pie is only so big and we have to improve all areas of contract and in my opinion that would be at the very bottom of my wish list.

Urban myth. Most are hanging around for:

a) they have waited 20 yrs for the ability to fly the 744, and many are getting it just prior to 60 and want to fly it for a few years.

b) more significantly the break even on working for "free" vs. retiring got seriously biased towards 65 with the DAL cost of retiree medical prior to medicare/SS eligibilty.

The "screw the RB guys" is just good BS talk for why they are really hanging around. As to ATL 744 I'm guessing they are staying in DTW because RA has stated that it will be the primary Asia gateway.
