Chairman Mark McClain in his publication dated 18 October 2004 provided a synopsis of their tentative agreement which was designed to allow Northwest (now Delta) to achieve "safe harbor" by avoiding bankruptcy. This publication illustrates the pattern that was established and repeated in concessionary bargaining until our Companies emerged from bankruptcy and merged.

Here is a thumbnail. Northwest was seeking cost savings and the savings were negotiated and allocated as follows:
  • Pay Reductions $161 million
  • Sick leave $3.8 million
  • Medical / Dental Insurance co pays $9.2 million
  • Allowing the company to roll down balance sheet charges on pension funding (not a pension change an accounting change) $72 million
  • Scope - $15 million ... in this paragraph the Northwest MEC takes credit for being the first to receive dollar credits for such a provision.
Unfortunately Northwest Airlines did not avoid bankruptcy on the basis of these pilot concessions and what was intended to be an off property 70 seat operation staffed by Northwest pilots became Compass and now has been flipped to Trans States. That is the story on the E175's.I see where you are coming from.

This is a sad but correct thumbnail of the history.

This is yet another sad but correct depiction of history.

I need some help. I am trying to win an argument with my sister and need to know the max capacity, and average fuel burn for the 747-400. Also the max number of pax in our current seating configuration.

Thanks

Not correct. There are TWO seasons. Good ice fishing and bad ice fishing. :D

[QUOTE=Roadkill;933616]Well...
Tomorrow is my last day in USAF, fini flight too. So I'm about to turn in my "return to Delta" from 5 years of MLOA...

5. My plan was to see what I can hold after AE and bid accordingly, assuming I have my choice... What's better, SLC 73N B @63% , or SLC 320 B @ 61%? (Phx commute) Or 7ER reserve at bottom in LAX or SLC?

Roadkill, Do not make the mistake of commuting to work, that was the biggest mistake of my airline career. Avoid at any cost, 7ER Reserve LAX or SLC. Good Luck and welcome back.

Thanks

Max capacity of pax is 403 in our current configuration. Average fuel burn is about 24,000 pounds per hour. I think JAL had some all coach configurations that held over 500.

Delta, US Airways Say Talks May Resolve...

Delta Air Lines Inc., US Airways Group Inc. and federal officials have told the U.S. district court of appeals for the District of Columbia they may be able to resolve a dispute over airport landing slots in New York and Washington that prompted a lawsuit.

In a court filing yesterday, the airlines, the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Transportation Department sought to delay further hearings as discussions continue.

I have a quick question. When are you oficially converted to a new airframe? I am moving back to the ER in NY and just happened to scan the SIM schedule and saw a person junior to me on the training schedule and I am not on it yet. I called and was told that I don't need the long course so I won't train till April. My big question is the person junior to me has his/her sim check out at the end of March, and I thought that was the conversion date. If that is the case I have someone junior to me converting before me, same base, same aircraft, is that allowed? Oh and we both got the jet on the same AE and neither of us was an MD or VD, both just straight AE.

You beat me. Wonder if that will include the rumored a/c swap too.

Off topic here, but does anyone know if there are DAL or general airline discounts for lift tickets in Colorado? I'm heading out to Breck for a week next month and need to keep costs under control. PM me if necessary. Thanks!

BTW, PilotFrog, congrats (if a little belated) to you on a great Rose Bowl victory. Sure was a fun game to watch.
